I'm okay with this sometimes. I watched ID4 the other day and the line "You did not shoot that green **** at me!" was changed to "You did not shoot that green crap at me!"

The actor was wearing a mask that covered his face and if I'd not seen the movie before I never would've noticed a change. The change didn't censor dialog to the point that the movie was different...

But, obviously that doesn't always work. I prefer the good bleep method and you can let me use my imagination. Like if I said that I wanted to **** all the way home. What did I really say?

Usually bleeps do less damage than "Monkey Fighting snakes on this monday to friday plane." This is because the term "monkey fighting" and the term "monday to friday" plane are stupid as hell.

Sometimes censorship makes it seem worse than it originally was. I remember on Family Guy Stewie says "can you say bang my girlfriend on TV?" and bang was replaced with a bleep, which made it sound more harsh

You'd think they would let you see the guy taking a hit in hopes that viewers would subconsciously build some kind of connection between weed and getting your head blown-up with acid (How exactly did that work again? Oh it was on the Sci-Fi channel, nevermind).

My mind has been trained to automatically flip the channel when ever I hear the phrase "A Sci-Fi Original Movie," so I don't have this problem.

But then the arguement can be made that while he was getting high it "blew his mind", and for the acid, "He did weed then tried acid AND THEN HE DIED!!! Don't do drugs, kids!" t:

It would be interesting to know how movies get edited for TV, how do they go about replacing foul language especially, getting the right voice impersonator, etc.

I know awhile ago Dave Coulier of Full House fame did alot of voices for editing movies for TV since he could do alot of impressions. Don't know if he still does. So I assume they employ people with similar talents.

There is a lot of ridiculous censorship in this country. Too many "adults" sitting at home with nothing to do but try and "protect" their children from dirty words and naked boobies.

I think if you have to do censoring for a movie so it can be shown on network TV, you're better off not showing it.

It's like a lot of rap songs that get played on the regular radio and you can't even tell what the rapper is saying half the time because half the song is bleeped out. Just don't play it. It takes away from the song, movie, or show.

I remember as a kid watching a PG-rated version of Saturday Night Fever released on VHS, always thinking how filthy could a movie on dancing be if the box cover has a sticker label PG on it?

It wasn't until a few years later HBO would play the original R-rated version I was shocked!!
