This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]459993[/split]
Fox and Ridley Scott are getting closer to returning to space as Jack Palgen (“Transcendence”is in talks to write the follow-up to last year’s sci-fi blockbuster, “Prometheus.”
Scott will produce again through his Scott Free banner though it’s unknown at this time if he will direct. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are also expected to return.
Plot details are still be worked out but Scott has said in interviews that while the first “Prometheus” had several elements linking it to the “Alien” franchise, this latest installment will feel more like its own film.
Despite not having a greenlight, the sci-fi movie’s new screenwriter is a good sign for a project Fox has been wary of committing to even though the last installment, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, made more than $400 million worldwide.
For Palgen, the film marks his second high-profile project following Wally Pfister and Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller “Transcendence,” which opens next April.
"I've read the whole script, and it's great, I really like it. I have a great character".
"I'd say it's a sizable role. It's a good plot device. My favorite roles to play are plot devices" (laughs).
Given that 'Alien' is back in the title, will the new film be a continuation of 2012's Prometheus or something different?
"Because there's an end result being the original Alien, it has to connect. People can expect similar things to happen, it is an Alien franchise [film]. It does translate. Obviously it's a completely different cast - Noomi isn't in it. I think it goes from the first to second one pretty fluidly".
There's some leaked set photos, that obviously WONT be posted here. Nothing too spoilery except [BLACKOUT]Weyland and Yutani have completed their merger.[/BLACKOUT]
Fassbender is in Australia for Alien: Covenant now.

My understanding of the title "Aien: Convenant" is that it referred to human (maybe the Weyland corp) and Alien (the "Engineers") formed an allegiance (agreement?). Just how the xenomorph creatures will figure in it will be intriguing to me.
Covenant is the name of the ship used by the characters in this film. Same as Prometheus. (Naming these prequels after the film's ship title)
What questions left over from Prometheus would you like to see answered in covenant?
