‘Prometheus’ Sequel Moving Forward at Fox

Fox and Ridley Scott are getting closer to returning to space as Jack Palgen (“Transcendence”) is in talks to write the follow-up to last year’s sci-fi blockbuster, “Prometheus.”

Scott will produce again through his Scott Free banner though it’s unknown at this time if he will direct. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are also expected to return.

Plot details are still be worked out but Scott has said in interviews that while the first “Prometheus” had several elements linking it to the “Alien” franchise, this latest installment will feel more like its own film.

Despite not having a greenlight, the sci-fi movie’s new screenwriter is a good sign for a project Fox has been wary of committing to even though the last installment, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, made more than $400 million worldwide.

For Palgen, the film marks his second high-profile project following Wally Pfister and Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller “Transcendence,” which opens next April.

Australian actor Benjamin Rigby talks a little about his role in Alien: Covenant

"I've read the whole script, and it's great, I really like it. I have a great character".

"I'd say it's a sizable role. It's a good plot device. My favorite roles to play are plot devices" (laughs).

Given that 'Alien' is back in the title, will the new film be a continuation of 2012's Prometheus or something different?

"Because there's an end result being the original Alien, it has to connect. People can expect similar things to happen, it is an Alien franchise [film]. It does translate. Obviously it's a completely different cast - Noomi isn't in it. I think it goes from the first to second one pretty fluidly".

Ridley Scott said Shooting will be a mix of location and studio shoots with location requiting “monumental forest and monumental rock and the rest will be in the studio with fairly formidable CGI.

Milford Sound (fiord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island) is confirmed as a filming location

There's some leaked set photos, that obviously WONT be posted here. Nothing too spoilery except [BLACKOUT]Weyland and Yutani have completed their merger.[/BLACKOUT]

Never did like
Yutani.

Makes sense. With
Vickers and Weyland dead I could see Yuntai make a merger move.

Yeah. Especially since it looked like the company was already having trouble behind the scenes during Prometheus.

Got the Egyptian look of the original Alien company logo.

Is this an actual badge being used in this film?

My understanding of the title "Aien: Convenant" is that it referred to human (maybe the Weyland corp) and Alien (the "Engineers") formed an allegiance (agreement?). Just how the xenomorph creatures will figure in it will be intriguing to me.

Covenant is the name of the ship used by the characters in this film. Same as Prometheus. (Naming these prequels after the film's ship title)

It's Ridley Scott, the old man changes his mind every few days. Who knows what the meaning of the title will be come next year to promoting the movie.

The name of the ship is the Covenant, though. That came straight from the official synopsis released by the studio, so that much is accurate.

I'm really not okay with a king alien. If it's related to the movie at all.

The ship carrying the colonists is called covenant. This has officially been confirmed.

I wonder if David has gone full villainous mode while being on the alien world. In Prometheus they set it up like he could be good or evil. David is now free from weyland's control.

Both of Scott's prequels have double meaning --Prometheus - name of the ship and name referenced as a Greek deity who is humanity's greatest benefactor (God who stole fire from Mount Olympus and gave it to mankind).

--Convenant - name of the ship but also referenced in (Abrahamic) religions, generally an "agreement" between a deity and humanity. It could be an agreement between the "Engineers" and the human crews.

I don't think that King Alien will be in it at all. That's an idea borne out of Cameron's Aliens (the Queen) and Scott is going into different (weird?) direction.

Do you guys think we will see more engineers in this movie?

What questions left over from Prometheus would you like to see answered in covenant?

why the engineers felt the need to create a bio weapon to abort their unwanted children?

If the DNA of the engineers is a perfect match of human DNA then why do they look like big white alien giants instead of like human beings
