The Wolverine Rila Fukushima as Yukio

That bit at the end when Logan tells her where he wants to go and she's like..

... Interesting! with a huge grin.

She's such a sweetheart

Yes because she could have been a disaster of a character, being angsty and a stereotypical anime girl in a school uniform.

I was so glad the way she turned out was nothing of the sort:up:

#BringbackYukio

 Mangold and Rila gauged the character perfectly, as you say it was a potential negative for the film and they turned Yukio into one of it's biggest positives.

Indeed, no giggly schoolgirl or over the top emo depressing angst and considering her mutant ability of being able to see when people die could have easily leant that way.

Her speech in the car about seeing her parents die in a car crash, powerful stuff for a comic flick:up:

Agreed on all points, Yukio was a total triumph of balancing characteristics and her fight scene in your avvy was badass! I really hope we see her in more X Movies.

Yeah that she was!

I reckon she will likely re-appear at some point even as just cameos, pretty much everyone seemed to like Yukio as a character even if they weren't massive fans of the film itself.

I wonder if they could work her into the X-Force line-up, I'm not familiar with the book but as we know movies don't always stick directly to the source material and a few people have asked Hugh if Wolverine will appear in that movie, so it could be a way to link Yukio up with that team.

I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility if that film does come about, and god I hope it does, but I would imagine the chances of her appearing in a Wolverine sequel might be a little bit higher.

Trouble is there is bound to be a vocal group who wouldnt want her because she hasnt appeared in that group in the comics, especially at the expense of a Psylocke or Domino.

I'd like Yukio to appear in X-Force, but Psylocke and Domino are prominent team members and deserve their time to shine. Maybe Yukio is an ally that they seek out for help, but isn't actually on the team itself.

And the scene where she explained how she came to meet Mariko.

I loved that Wolverine called her "Yuk," for short during the scene just before he took the bug out. Even my dad caught that when we saw it yesterday. That so sounded like Wolverine from the comics.

That's a good point, that team does have two big female characters already and fans of the book deserve to see them, that means we'll have to get a Wolverine 3 so she didn't get on that plane for nothing! Off to Russia for Logan and Yukio I say! :D

I would rather see a Wolverine 3 film than a X-Force team. Both of those movies will probably feature Wolverine, so why not just the save the mutants that will appear in X-Force in a X-Men movie, it will probably harder to sell a movie with title name of "X-Force" even if it has Wolverine. Plus with Wolverine 3, FOX could release a Wolverine trilogy box set.

Yeah some great possibilities and potential to be had with those two. I guess we have to wait and see what DoFP throws up first but yeah and Omega Red film would be awesome, with Ogun on his tail from Japan perhaps.........

Wolverine 3 with Logan and Yukio asked to go to Russia to stop Omega Red, filling in more of Wolverine's past at the same time, would certainly be my preference for what they do next with the two.

I admit I had to look Ogun up, I like what I read and I could see them streamlining him as a Mutant Ninja assassin sent after Logan by the Yakuza for preventing their plans. He might need a design tweak though lol.

If everyone else has to look him up, a few changes should be ok :woot:

Not a big name I will grant you that

This is my idea for 3rd installments as well. To have the 3rd movie takes place in japan again would not be a good idea. Take Logan and Yukio to Russia would not only opens up tons of stories possibilities-think of Logan pre weapon x days as flashback- it would re create that 'fish out of the water' feel to it similiar to The Wolverine.

I finally got to see the movie today and I was impressed with her. For a first time actress she did well. It'd be nice to see her again in another X-Men/Wolverine movie or just in another movie altogether.

Yes.

Yes, please.

Do we need another story focused on Wolverine's past though?

It doesn't sound a very enticing plotline.

Maybe it could be more linked to the x universe than this one though. Have them go on an official x-mission yet totally solo. Make it more relevant to the overall universe. Logan is supposed to be on a solo mission but calls Yukio off the books to help him...

I would really love if Yukio showed up again, even if it were just a brief scene or mention from Logan. She's really awesome.

I wouldn't mind snippets of his past in flashbacks but I don't think there needs to be a whole movie dedicated to an era of his past just yet. Besides, Yukio is apart of his present and the present (and potential future) are more interesting to see. I found it interesting when they were on the plane the first time, he asked Yukio if he died on the plane and her response was "Not on this plane," as kind of a hint he would die on a plane but that one wasn't it. Of course she probably was just joking, having seen his other death already. I still thought that it was interesting how she expressed that remark to him though.

I don't think its really necessary. Lauren Shuler Donner and Hugh Jackman already got what they wanted. And we would have gotten this Wolverine-in-Japan movie earlier or possibly right after X3, if only the execs of FOX told them to do an origin movie first.

But if revealing another moment from Wolverine's long history will make the film/story better, I'm up for it.

Thats a great idea!

Though if there's gonna be a Wolverine 3 movie, I think it should be the last Wolverine movie.

Wolverine has been around since the 1840's (1880's in the comics), traveled all around the world, and fought in most of the major wars of the 20th Century. There is SO MUCH backstory and interesting parts of his past that you could build an entire film universe just around him an all the crazy crap he's been involved in/people that he's met.

But the problem with that is it might look repetitive to the GA. Like another movie, another demon from Logan's past.
