The Wolverine Tao Okamoto/Mariko Yashida Thread

Wolverine/Mariko had a chemistry I never felt he had with Jean or Silverfox in these films. She was easily his best romantic interest.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Wolverine's love pairings. I just don't find his relationship with Jean, Silverfox and Mariko romantic and sweet. But I'm really curious if he's gonna keep in touch with Mariko. I feel like there should be a continuation to their story.

How was his relationship with Mariko not sweet? Silverfox had potential, and Lynn Collins gave a good performance, but her character was written terribly in the script.

Well first, they just met and Mariko didn't look like she was really into Wolverine.

Her chemistry with Hugh is the most satisfying things to Chinese audience. So if Fox is clever,it should let her in next movie

They may not do another solo film. It may take team films to get Hugh to play wolverine again after DOFP.

Hmm, so far Hugh Jackman hasn't refused to do a X-Men/solo Wolverine film, so I don't think he will turn down a 3rd solo Wolverine movie if FOX offers it up. But who knows, it was always their goal to do the Japanese story-arc into a Wolverine movie and thats now done.

Now that I've finally watched the movie again, I like Mariko more than I thought I did. Caught up some subtle things. The small facial/eye expressions, manner of speech, and the way when Wolverine wakes up from his nightmare, Mariko doesn't freak out and instead calmly places her hand on his. Damn, she grew on me. I actually now like the slow part of the movie (Logan and Mariko in the cabin) a lot. I bought that transformation from a cold, distanced person into a little more open one. She is a lot like Logan in a way. I originally felt that Mariko's character wasn't that good, but now it's the opposite.

Both japanese actresses were really, really good.

ALL of the Japanese actors and actresses were really, really good.

Everytime I watch it I appreciate Sanada's performance more and more. He is so evil and twisted without it being over the top and pantomime like, like in the way he talks to Yukio and puts her down, subtle, especially when compared against Viper:whatever:

And his fight is just BA all over:up:

I cant wait to see 47 Ronin just for him.

Absolutely the whole Japanese cast is great. Sanada putting down "little Yukio" is indeed fun to watch. And he had a great moment in the extended version. Short but important, he means that much more as a character with the scene included.

Damn, I only have week left to wait to see the extended cut, not long to go now, but damn its getting harder to wait.:woot:

I like the added scenes with Wolverine outside the love hotel in the extended cut. Mariko gets some more throwing knife action going on.

Yeah one of the best added scenes, shows Logan more vunerable and in need of help from Mariko than in the normal cut.

^Yeah I liked the extended version of that scene as well, as you said it showed Logan really needed help this time.

It was followed up very well when Logan wakes up and says "I've never needed this before" and Mariko replies "What? Help?"
