Robert Downey Jr. Is Doom - "Same task, new mask"

This is the problem with Marvel Studios wasting so many good actors in pointless throwaway roles, ie Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion, and the list goes on and on.
If anything these are the actors should prioritized in getting recasted in another role. Like for crying out loud you guys have had Mads right there available for the last 8 years. And he's said in an interview earlier this year he'd would be open to doing another Marvel movie.

This move wasn't made for fans. It was made for casuals that stopped watching. Marvel doesn't care if we hate it.

It's made for people with an open mind.

There are fans who are willing to give Iron Doom and the Russos a chance.

If it's trash then we'll criticize it not before the script is finalized.

Seriously, say this out loud to yourselves: this pitch is RDJ, the star of this movie as stated in the panel, will get his own movie meant to develop his character. In which he will die. Then a new Doom we never met and who's motivations we won't have built up will be the new villain for Secret Wars, the continuation of this story. This would be as if in Deathly Hallows Part 1, Salazar Slytheran rises from the grave, kills Voldemort at the end of the movie, and now Harry and co have to kill him instead. It's complete crap and illogical. If anyone seriously buys that possibility, I got some beach fron property in Antarctica yo sell yall. Cause that's clown shoes dumb

Or if they killed Snoke in TLJ and then brought Palpatine back for TROS. Oh wait...

Is this a trick question? Because they want nerds to make videos about it and hype the movie up. There isn't a successor coming. If you think there is, you're delusional

We don't know if this is the final variant.

That's an assumption.

But I don't know a single multiverse movie where the main star is the only variant.

See my above post. This concept is absurdly dumb. Would make this casting even more stupid cause we are spending an entire movie with RDJ as the star and not actually building up the real villain. I get fans want to make this work in their own minds to justify this concept, but this pitch is absurdly terrible. You complained about MoM. This would be far dumber than just having RDJ be Doom the entire movie.

Why would they announce the real Doom now? That's like giving away the ending to Infinity War.
They basically did give away the ending of Infinity War away, for fans anyway. The moment they announced Thanos was the big bad for Avengers 3 and 4, we knew the snap was coming. This is no different with Secret Wars.

This is an Occam's razor situation. You just got to step back and think about this logically. They announced Avengers 5 and 6 as a two-parter, Doom is the big bad and they used the biggest comic event of the year to announce his casting. This is not a fake out lol.

The real Doom is coming...
Ya'll are the only ones ruling out all alternatives.

I already said we don't know what they'll do.

Meanwhile ya'll know for a fact the RDJ variant is the last one.

The script isn't even done yet.

I mean the real Doom taking over before Secret Wars is the smart play.

Casuals get Iron Doom and fanboys get the 616 version. Everyone (reasonable) is happy.

Seriously, this would make for the stupidest possible version of this movie. Narratively, this is just a mess.

We don't need an entire movie to build up the real Doom.

Really just knowing he's a smarter, more insidious version of Iron Doom is enough to set the stage for Secret Wars.

Heath Ledger didn't need two movies, neither did Killmonger or countless others.

How is it a mess?

You already made up your mind you hate a movie that hasn't been written yet.

Yeah, who needs to know things like character motivation, personality, etc. The best kinds of villains are ones that are just thrown in there with no explanation at the very end.

The movie that you're pitching, yes. Cause it's bad storytelling to do what you're suggesting.
It comes down to execution.

Ending a movie where the Avengers lose only to be saved with a time machine looks really stupid on paper.

I could understand your pov if you were new to all this but you're not. You've been a member of this site for over 15 years. You've probably followed the production of countless movies. You should know the drill by now. How many times have you or someone else on this site think "Oh they would never do that, clearly they're doing this. Just watch" ? The simplest explanation is the actual explanation.
