Robert Zemeckis directing Yellow Submarine remake

The only way this project could be interesting is if they hire Paul Rudd, Jason Schwartzman, Justin Long and Jack Black to reprise their Beatles cameo roles from Walk Hard.

Btw, I personally think remaking this is a VERY bad idea. There's no way they could make the "nowhere man" Jeremy Hilary Boob, Ph.D (yes, I swear to GOD that IS the character's name) look as AWESOMELY BIZZARE as in the original film.

Here's a picture of JHB, Ph.D from the film, just so you guys know what I'm getting at here:

Looks like a cross between an overweight chicken with fur and a Hippie-era version of V from "V For Vendetta", doesn't he?

This is one of the most epic fails in film.

Yellow Submarine is The Beatles! Only two out of four are alive, what would be the point if they are not going to do motion capture let alone voice work???

Or is he just going to get a bunch of different people to play different characters basically ripping off the original rather than remaking it.

The Beatles didn't actually do the voice work on Yellow Submarine. Other actors played the speaking parts and they just did a cameo at the end after the film after seeing an early version of the film.

I don't think it's the worst idea ever. The original is trippy enough that a new version might be interesting. And the music will always good.

again I'll say it again: how the HELL can mo-cap make the "nowhere man" just as AWESOMELY BIZZARE as it was in regular animation?

At this point I'm imagining it to look a lot like the dreamscape for "Yellow Submarine" in The Beatles Rock Band, but with sharper CGI.

The Yellow Submarine track on Beatles Rock Band was exactly what I was thinking of when I read about the remake. It looked great on the game.

I had an idea that they should have made this film using mo-cap & cgi animation, clay-mation, hand drawn animation and real-life footage. It probably would have been hell to make, but I think having different styles of animation would really have served the more psychedelic aspects of the film.

This is going to be the creepiest thing ever. Christmas Carol and Beowulf weren't creepy because those are fictional characters. These are going to be CG Beatles. Running around. As they looked in their prime. Nightmare city.

I can't speak for "A Christmas Carol" because I haven't seen it, but as for "Beowulf", I think that Crispin Glover tips the creepy scale in any movie he's in.

 just what we need another robert Zemeckis directed cgi/motion capture movie

and WHERE THE HELL IS ROGER RABBIT 2 ALREADY

If it remotely resembles the latter part of the opening for The Beatles Rock Band, I am so on board for this.

You know, I was a bit iffy about this to start with, but I actually kinda cant wait to see how this turns out.

Haven't actually seen the original Yellow Submarine, But I'm a huge Beatles fan so I'm looking forward to this one.

It's Beatles, loved the original, no issue with the voices as it wasn't their voices in the original. I actually hope this is in 3D. At one time I was against it, but the Beatles Rock Band game changed my mind.

One things for sure, stoners are sure going to have a wild ride watching this thing.

I'm not. I hope this plummets into development hell and festers there for all eternity.

Looking forward to it as well. :o

As a Beatles fan, I'm a little disappointed, but on the other hand that's one less remake that the world didn't need.

Was the movie really necessary?

Also, 200 posts! Woo!
