Robin Hood Reboot with Taron Egerton/Jamie Foxx

there was also the BBC series that ran for the past 3 years...
Is that the one where everyone dies?

BBc does a new Robin Hood or Sherlock Holmes show every couple of years as well. I remember that comedy Robin Hood show on CBBC when I was a kid and that one with Sean Connery's son as Robin Hood.

i like it i feel ridley's will be kind of boring so i welcome this change

Ehh I'm not much into "retellings," but this is a wait and see type thing. Sure there's a high chance that it could be something ******ed that gets popular with those that easily impressed, but the right filmmakers could make this thing pretty well. Time will tell on this one.

This is one of the newer versions that could actually be fun. I've always wondered what it'd be like to have a Robbin Hood in our present time. With the Economic crises going on wellXD

Tony Lee To Re-Write "Robin Hood 2058"

By Garth Franklin Saturday January 30th 2016 10:41PM
New York Times bestselling author Tony Lee has been brought onboard to work on the script for a futuristic reimagining of Robin Hood that is in the works at Hollywood Gang.
Jason Dean Hall ("American Sniper") and Michael Ross ("The Throwaways") worked on previous drafts of the script which is set in a dystopian London and follows a rogue MI5 agent on a mission to avenge injustice.
Gianni Nunnari ("300," "Immortals") will produce the project, currently going by the working title "Robin Hood 2058".
It's one of several Robin Hood films in development with rivals in the works at Sony, Warner, Disney and Lionsgate - the latter the furthest along with a project called "Robin Hood: Origins" starring "Kingsman" breakout actor Taron Egerton.

I saw this and thought it was going to be a response to Robin Hood: The Avengers Edition only to see it announced started well before that was thought up.

Good grief how many Robin Hood films do we need? There's like 5 in active development at various studios.

Visual effects supervisor Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull has been set to direct a new future-set spin on the “Robin Hood” legend at Hollywood Gang.
Gianni Nunnari (“300,” “Immortals”) will produce the film and says he was drawn to Dulull’s work on various shorts like the sci-fi thriller “Sync”: “HaZ brings the grounded realistic approach to the world depicting technology and people in a not too distant dystopian London.”
“Spider-Man” and “Doctor Who” comics author Tony Leep penned the reimagining of the famed outlaw. Filming aims to begin sometime next year.
Dulull is currently in postproduction on his debut feature film, the space-set thriller “The Void”.

Im just thinking out loud but I feel like Guy Richie could pull this off. I imagine would be a great choice for a future dystopian Robin Hood story. Imagine a future that looked like a mesh of Children of Men and Looper, using the kind of dialogue Ritchie would write I feel like it writes it self. Perhaps this idea is coming from the King Arthur film but it just seems right to me.. Im not even particularly a fan of his films but its something I can see in my head as being a thing.

I can't wait for the inevitable team-up of future Robin Hood and future Zorro.

Those would actually make a great team-up.

I think there was a future Sherlock Holmes too!
It's Robin Hood's turn (again) now!

Pretty much something like Arrow TV show set in V's London.
I can see a young Loxley descendant/vigilante picking up the Robin Hood mantle to fight an oppressive gov.

Modern "superheroe/vigilantes" have borrowed plenty from Robin Hood, why not go to the source and reinvent from there.

HaZ To Helm Future Set “Robin Hood”

“HaZ brings the grounded realistic approach to the world depicting technology and people in a not too distant dystopian London.”

These must be trigger words for Producers looking to "reinvent" dormant public domain material, and stalled franchises, they must pee themselves whenever they here them.

How exactly was Robin Hood not a grounded, realistic story before? Other than throwing him into the "not too distant dystopian" future of London there really is not a lot of reason to describe Robin Hood like that.

Probably since it's set in a not too distant future, in the face of all the popular superpowerd and gadgety hero franchises out now, they felt they may need to emphasis more "grounded and realistic".
Or they knew people would be bringing up Rocket Robin Hood, and making it clear - No not like that! :woot:

Proof even the most insane ideas have already been done by Hollywood before.

I'm not sure I wanna see a futuristic take on Robin Hood. While I've always been a fan of Robin Hood and have enjoyed most of his movies and tv series this one doesn't strike me as great. Although it would be interesting if it were a continuation of the old Robin of Sherwood series where the hunter/shaman guy chose a new Robin after the death of the old and this continues the tradition into the future . A good mix of science and magic pitted against each other .

‘Rogue One’s’ Ben Mendelsohn to Play Sheriff of Nottingham in ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ (EXCLUSIVE)
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” baddie Ben Mendelsohn is eyeing another villainous role.

The Emmy-winning actor is in negotiations to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in Lionsgate’s “Robin Hood: Origins.”

The movie stars Taron Egerton as the titular, iconic character; Jamie Foxx as Little John; and Eve Hewson as Maid Marian. “Fifty Shades of Grey” actor Jamie Dornan will portray Will Scarlett, Robin Hood’s half-brother.

Otto Bathurst is directing from Joby Harold’s script. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Basil Iwanyk, Tory Tunnell, and Joby Harold are producing.

The production companies are DiCaprio’s Appian Way, Safehouse Pictures, and Iwanyk’s Thunder Road Pictures.

The story will center on Robin Hood, a war-hardened crusader who joins a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English monarchy. The film will also be released in Imax.

Mendelsohn can be seen as Orson Krennic, an Empire official, in the “Star Wars” prequel “Rogue One,” which hits theaters on Friday. He recently won an Emmy (for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series) for playing Kyle Chandler’s deceased, criminal brother in the Netflix drama “Bloodline.”

Not interested unless I get Oscar Isaac shouting that he declares Robin Hood TO BE AN OUTLAW!
