Robin Hood

People's life expentencies in medieval time were much lower than now, and they looked much more mature at a younger age. It's even true for people living a century ago! Armstrong's Robin looks like a kid, not like a war veteran, let alone a crusader.
The average life expectancy in the middle ages was lower than it is today (in Europe), because many more people died at birth, or giving birth, or from disease, or from malnutrition. Many people still lived to old age, and people did not have an innately lower life span than today; nor did they physically mature quicker (in fact, children reach puberty sooner nowadays than in previous generations).

I accept many of your criticisms of the show, but the only sense in which this one is resonant is that Robin's youth doesn't feel right. It is not an inaccurracy.

Maybe I am overcritical over this point, but Robin does lack maturity for somebody who has been threw the 3rd Crusade. And I read a few articles about people's maturity and time, and people do "get older" more slowly now. Don't ask me how it works, but frm what I understand somebody who has been living in more difficult conditions will look like it. In any case, I don't think somebody who has been through a war looks like he just left the cast of Hollyoaks. Idependently of his age, Armstrong lacks the commanding presence and charisma necessary to play Robin Hood.

Arise oh living dead thread....ARISE!!! I summon you back into existance!!

(for the sake of my fellow americans i'm using the term SEASON instead of SERIES)
SO....I watched the first few episodes of the first season a long while back and thought it was horribly boring....but a few days ago I watched the first few episodes of season 2 and dang...I love it. Thanks to Itunes i've gotten all caught up and am REALLY enjoying this series.

The second season (to me) seems a bit more dynamic, a bit darker and just over-all more entertaining. It's really proven itself to be a great series worthy of watching.

I was shocked as hell at the ending of the second season.

shhh, don't say anything. I think there are still more episodes to go in terms of BBC America, right? I left off where...

Robin goes to kill all the Black Knights, they trick him, he fights with that traitor over the oil and then manages to escape.

I REALLY hope there's still more episodes this season.

Sweet, can't wait. (actually I can, because then that means I have to wait for the next season, gah)

In any case, great show and I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it!!

You guys do know series 2 is the last series, this year we will be getting "Merlin" instead it has Tony Head as Uter in it.:o

Oh. Well, in that case, the ending of season 2 shouldn't have shocked me as much as it did. :o

I like Merlin. Tony Head's always good, too.

You lie :P
I just read that Robin Hood was picked up for series 3.

Then you read wrong the BBC has given away it's slot and Jonas Armstrong was talking about some new show he's in on POG last week.

TV.com lists it as a returning series and they're usually pretty reliable. Maybe it was just moved to another time slot? That happens to American series all the time.

Crap. I read the spoiler. CURSES!

Anyway, the official site for Robin Hood on BBC says the show will return in 2008. Also, numberous tv sites have confirmed that season 3 is already in production.

I was shocked as hell at the ending of the second season.

As was I. The series was much more intense than I had originally expected it to be. My girlfriend kept raving about it, so eventually i gave it a shot. then ended up watching pretty much every episode in sequence from start to finish in a bout a week.

It's not a spectacular show. It's not worth raving about. but it's certainly a fun action adventure show.

Is the show coming back because i know that the actor who plays Guy of Gisborne is going over to Spooks to take over from Rupert Penry Jones as the lead actor....

Geez, British actors seem to fear typecasting a lot more than American actors.

Season 3 is the last one, thats ok I didn't really like this anyway :P

They should make an C18th espionage and adventure serial featuring The Scarlett Pimpernel, instead.

I think there doing Merlin next, about King Arthur and his wizard.

merlin eh? wonder what the budget would be. needs to be big for some of the potential effects required.
