Bill McKinney, recognizable '70s character actor from Deliverance, The Gauntlet and more recently Tim Sullivan's 2001 Maniacs, is in talks to play Richard the Lionheart in Sherwood Horror.

Director John Regan's contemporary take on the Robin Hood legend (with a horror twist) is gearing up to start production.

Ex-con Rob Locksley (DJ Perry) returns home after a six-year absence to find his town under the rule of vampires. He must join forces with his old roughneck hunting buddies to wage war against the evil Sheriff and his horde of blood-sucking minions.

Production outfit Collective Development Inc. has narrowed filming locations down to three possible states, even though director John Regan is lobbying hard to bring Sherwood Horror to Virginia. Recently, the Los Angeles-based V.G.P. Effects & Design Studio has signed on to provide the FX. Check out some concept art here.

I think the vampire madness definitely has gone too far now...

The SyFy Channel must be kicking themselves for not thinking up this surefire classic.

Eh, it's not the vampire thing that bugs me so much (overmilked as that little trend is now) as it is the mental image of the Merry Men modernized into "roughneck hunting buddies". Good grief.

Could be fun, eh.

I'm all for updates as long as they are good. This doesn't sound like it would be good.

Sometimes I don't mind this kind of thing but most of the time I can't stand it when a movie is coming out and in the same year or the following year they make a film using the same character or premise. Sort of like when Armageddon and Deep Impact came out together.

You have the Robin Hood film with Crowe and now this one, which doesn't sound too good.

Mission to Mars and Red Planet.:o
I can never remember which is which there.

Damn. I saw the thread title and thought that it was an interesting idea. But seeing its supposed to be modernized and for some reason the Sheriff has a horde of vampires, it made me sad.

If it were a period piece, try and tell me it does not sound awesome.

It does not sound awesome.:csad:

As a period piece, Robin Hood and his Merry Men fight vampires who are killing the poor helpless citizens of Sherwood? It sounds very awesome, especially if you take the Sheriff out of the equation.

I'm pretty sure that people come up with these movies using some kind of mad-lib and they are forced to use specific words that come out of a hat like "vampires" "zombies" "ninjas" and "Abraham Lincoln." Whatever happened to people inventing new creatures and characters? Oh yeah, it's called Avatar, and everyone accuses it of being a big-budget remake of Smurfs.

It is while very good essentially Dances with Wolves/Pochantas with blue people. The only unique thing in that movie was the world.

This sounds awful, and while I hated the beasts in Avatar (too much nonsense on them), the world was pretty cool (especially the floating mountains), and it did try to do something new with regards to conceptual stuff.

You're telling me a Ninja Abe Lincoln taking on legions of the undead is not movie worthy? :o

Avatar was Dances with Wolves/Pocahontas meets Blue cat-elves and Halo.

Abe Lincoln would be weakened if you made him a ninja, make him fight undead ninjas and it'll be more fair.

Ok so, I haven't posted in years, and the reason for this is because I buried my head into working on my film project, but I came across this thread someone posted about my film "Sherwood Horror" from years back, so I wanted to share this with you all.

I was lucky enough to be able to recruit an amazing crew of VFX artists from around the world to work on our Concept Teaser for this Modern Day Robin Hood Vampire Thriller.

The crew, collectively, worked on such films as Captain America: Winter Soldier, Super 8, Blue Ruin, Skyfall, X-Men: First Class, Splice, Moon, Iron Man 3, Lincoln, Silent Hill, World War Z and many more. Even my composer creates new music for Star Wars Rebels every week. Check it out here...

We are also running a Kickstarter campaign to raise the financing for the feature film. We really need all the support we can get as we only have 24 days left on our campaign.

I'm sure I'm gonna hear an earful, but if you like what you see, then please help us out, we could really use the support. We've got some pretty cool perks (including a digital download of the feature film or blu-ray for 20-30 bucks.

Any help at all, pledging or getting the word out would be greatly appreciated. Remember me, like me or not... I am one of you guys.

Thanks for taking a look.

Good for you - Looks like Arrow meets Van Heilsing - couple of nice concepts - in my opinion, would have liked it in the actual town of Sherwood - that vampires were always there and the real reason Robin hood was doing what he was doing - helping the terrorized. A real urban legend.

Good luck.

Can't wait for "Three Musketeers: Army of the Dead"!!

Thanks, Vaibow. I like your concept, I just thought it would have more drama/conflict/threat to the lead characters if they are thrown into a situation they aren't already confidently equipped to deal with. I appreciate you taking a look!
