RoboCop Reboot

A rebooted RoboCop...

I wouldn't buy that for a dollar!

The first Robocop still holds up well, but not its two abysmal sequels. I hope this reboot will do the first movie justice, and not just an expensive b-movie that misses the theme of rediscovering humanity after reconstruction as a cyborg.

"I have my take on it," he continued, "And I can tell you this: In the first 'RoboCop' when Alex Murphy is shot, gunned down, then you see some hospitals and stuff and then you cut to him as RoboCop. My movie is between those two cuts. How do you make RoboCop? How do you slowly bring a guy to be a robot? How do you actually take humanity out of someone and how do you program a brain, so to speak, and how does that affect an individual?"

Looks like the gruesomeness won't end after Murphy is shot at. I would have liked to have seen the inner workings of Robocop

I could see a scene where Murphy's face is grafted on to the robo skull.

You're in luck, I think they're just booting up a reboot.

Can they please just not make a robocop remake?

That'd be the preferable option but seeing as they're intent on making it I'm glad that they've at least hired a good director for the job.

That's definitely a positive for starters. Although I pretty much agree that it doesn't need to be rebooted/remade.

Reboot is just another word for remake.

There is no need to remake an 80's masterpiece. Remake movies that had potential but weren't good.

Robocop is a masterpiece? I think that might be a bit strong.

While i don't hate the re design, i really dont like the black 'muscle' on the upper arm. The stream lined look also hints that maybe he wont do the famous robo walk, which for me would be a real shame.

I just hope they don't take it too far from the original source and what makes Robocop great.

It's a masterpiece to me and many other people. Strong to you perhaps but not the ones who think so.

It's solidly my favorite movie of all time along side other films. I can never definitively choose a number 1.

And I'm not saying that as a genre fan, I'm saying that as a fan of all kinds of films.

RoboCop was killed by Dexter Morgan.

And Dexter also killed Dick Jones.

Dexter kills everyone.

I think as time goes on it becomes more and more apparent how good the movie is. It's like a weird soup of genres than just sci-fi. It's like a western but it's also like frankenstien. But frankenstien appears to be the most human element in the movie. It has comedy but it's also disturbing. It's light and not very serous but yet it is very serous. Bro, the movie just works. It's pure magic.

Whether Robocop is a masterpiece or not the DVD of it on my shelf isn't going to be hurt by a new generation getting to see the character in their era.

The robo walk was simply a case of the suit being difficult to move in, in truth if he really moved that cumbersomely he'd be easily picked off. Whatever story they go for with this reboot I am certain Robocop will move fluidly and with flexibility.

there should be an end or else people find it boring.people always want new ones .

I agree that RoboCop is a masterpiece. It's timeless really. The satire elements still apply today.

If this reboot goes through they'd be crazy not to put ED-209 in it, although he would certainly be CGI for the most part I imagine. After the reboot though I think they'll tell their own sequel stories as opposed to adapting the sequels as well.

You know, after seeing Real Steel and obviously the Transformers movies, a CGI ED-209 doesnt worry me anymore, in fact, I quite look forward to it, especially if they do it RS style and make the actual thing for still shots and just use CGI for when it moves.

Sounds like Verhoeven was sneakily trying to get a Robocop vs Terminator movie made indirectly. :D

Wouldnt that have been awesome :woot:. Would have loved to see him get the chance to make his Robocop 4 though, sounds great Robo going up against more advanced robots.

RoboCop 2 was fine. My only gripe was that they turned The Old Man into a villain tarnishing the ending to RoboCop 1.
