Does anyone know who Padilha is? I've never heard of him before this? Is he a hot prospect or something? Why would he get Robocop/

Isn't he the guy that directed that Brazilian movie about a police unit battling the drug gangs in the slums a few years back, that got a lot of buzz?

I dont think fass is that. he would make for a solid robo. I rather go with someone like fass then ending up with someone like a tyler lauther, robert pattern, dude from gi joe(played duke) blanking on his name.

Robocop's face was visible for a very long time in the original?

A very long time? At the start of the movie we saw it but what, 15-20 minutes in it's covered by a mask and only occasionally seen afterwards? That and this is a remake and assuming it does anything remotely similar to the appearence of the first Robocop we won't see his face for very long.

The face was seen for the whole last act or something. That's an important aspect of the movie.

Although I don't see why someone has to resemble Peter Weller to play Robocop. But Murphy shouldn't be played by an especially beautiful person.

No they really don't need to look similar although some people have ingrained what they see a character as and Murphy/Robocop is most iconic as a cyborg with only his mouth and chin being exposed. If people are going to compare the two that's what they'll look to.

Yeah, the role of Robo just can't be played by a star. The guy has to look "normal," that's what gave Weller an added edge. Reminds me of seeing some TV spot for He's Just Not That Into You, where Bradley Cooper's character isn't attracted to Scarlett Johansson's character. What?

Fassbender is awesome and would make a great Robocop. I haven't really been all that interested in this reboot but if you cast Fassbender, you have my ticket already.

That just doesn't make sense. You can't not be attracted to Scarlett Johansson.

Um...I beg to disagree. Sometimes she looks pretty hot, but most of the time I don't think she's anything particularly special. I don't know what it is about so many famous actresses that are universally perceived as sex symbols, yet I really only find attractive in 1 or 2 movies - Scarlett Johannssen, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba.

Maybe people like them because they aren't "generically" hot, but if that's the case, I guess I prefer generically hot women.

On topic: there is absolutely no reason to reboot Robocop. I like Fassbender, but Hollywood's lack of originality is reaching new lows.
