RoboCop Reboot

Ok, that picture is a bit better than the previous one. I can kind of see it now. Don't get me wrong, I'll give him a chance, but I love the original so much that this really needs to be great.

My love for the first Robocop knows no bounds with that said I'm willing to give this a shot because I ventured out and watched Tropa De Elite 1 & 2 and the director proves himself to be a tour de force.

I seriously recommend people to watch those two movies (the second one especially being amazing).

The talent is definitely building up with the people they've been hiring for this film to come together.

2013 might be just as awesome as 2012. John McClane, Superman, Wolverine, and RoboCop! I think this film will be grittier and dirtier than the original. I have yet to see elite squad so Im not sure.

Grittier and dirtier, is it possible? I still find viewing the first Robo awkward at times.

I like the choice, have heard good things about him in The Killing. I think Russell Crowe maybe up for the villian role. Jeff Sneider who broke the Crowe-Robocop news couple weeks tweeted yesterday, that he didnt say Crowe was playing the title role but that he was up for a role. Here's a link to his twitter:

You'll have to scroll down a bit for it but it says:

I'll leave you guys with this... @ThePlaylist, who said anything about Russell Crowe playing Robocop in ROBOCOP? Because it wasn't me... :)

Crowe has already denied the rumours though, hasn't he?

I think a fan on twitter asked him if was playing Robocop. So he said no, which is true. He just didnt mention that he may have been up for a diffrent role lol.

Kinnaman would make a great Robocop. I hope he accepts the role. He's one of the best parts of The Killing (I find his performance and character about 100 times more interesting than Mirielle "Perpetual Scowl" Enos).

Sidenote: Could that InSneider guy look like more of a little f***ing weasel?

I've only seen Kinnaman in The Darkest Hour. Movie wasn't great but he didn't do bad for the relatively small role he had. Certainly someone who shows promise and RoboCop is a big leap for him.

Don't forget Iron Man & Thor! There's also a chance that Deadpool will show up to the part as well. :D

As long as they don't copy the first movie word for word, I'll be pretty hyped for this reboot.

I believe they are focusing more on the creation process of RoboCop which can be really cool.

Dick Jones perhaps

i can definitely see Crowe playing him

Kinnaman is an interesting choice, he is great on Robocop.

Sadly though, if he takes this, that probably means he's not going to be doing that Arthur & Lancelot project. However, I was only really interested in that movie because of Kinneman and Harington, so no big deal I guess.

I thought that film fell threw and wasnt happening any more. I thought i read something on that?

Yep, they're putting it on hold due to issue with deciding the budget though they're encouraging the director to take the project to another studio, but it's possible that he might have to start from scratch if Kinnaman and Harington are moving on.

Kinnaman as Robocop huh? Interesting choice. I've only seen him so far in a few swedish cop movies but I think he's a solid actor.

His appearance and build certainly does remind me of something akin to Weller's.

I actually think RoboCop as a franchise has the possibility to be a great reboot/remake. The original is great and I personally love it, but it's not untouchably great and the themes and concept didn't exactly get fully realized in the sequels.

And add to that a fellow Swede being up for the main-role and you can color me quite interested.

Though seriously Alexander Skarsgård would have been an even better choice for a Swede. :)

Speaking of Swedes (or to be more precise, Canadians playing Norwegians who are mistaken for Swedes) I think Christopher Heyerdahl, The Swede from Hell on Wheels, would make an awesome Clarence Boddicker.

Isn't that movie pretty much dead? I hope not. Kinnaman and Harrington are great. Gary Oldman as Merlin, too. :woot:

RoboCop is still a pretty gritty movie even today. It'll be interesting to see how a reboot could top it there.
