RoboCop Reboot

Nice!

For those of you who are still opposed to this remake... I think you should really look at the casting choices thus far. Oldman won't sign onto just anything (okay, well... I'm just going to forget about The Unborn and that movie where he played a dwarf). And instead of casting a Hollywood manufactured pretty boy like Taylor Kitsch or Charming Potato, they went with the relatively unknown Kinnaman, who is a great actor. I think this movie is going to work.

YEEEEEEEEEES! I just hope his role is bigger than Ferrer's in the original or Tucci's in Captain America.

i dont think this movie will be bad. but Oldman means nothing if you go on IMDB. wasnt he also thinking signing on Akira?

How are they going to differentiate robocop from iron man i wonder? The public has become so accustomed to seeing a fully armored metal man going about now as opposed to the novelty of it in the 80's

Robocop doesn't fly or shoot repulsors.
He's not a sarcastic *******.
He's not a billionaire.
He's not a man in a suit, he's a cyborg/robot cop.
He's a cop, not a superhero.

Basically this. I dont think there's going to be that much confusion from anyone

This is probably the most up-in-the-air movie I can recall in a long time. It's either going to work beautifully, or it's going to be a total dud.

I see it going the Green Lantern/Battleship/John Carter road, but I also see it going down the Batman Begins road.

I just dont understand why they keep remaking great, great classics instead of movies that sucked and actually need to be remade

I dont understand why people keep complaining. The Original is still there

idk i dont think it really matters. As long as the original still exists I dont see the point of complaining

Rob Zombie described it best in 2002 ( too bad ironically, $ bought him too):
I feel it's the worst thing any filmmaker can do. I actually got a call from my agent and they asked me if I wanted to be involved with the remake of Chain Saw. I said no ****ing way! Those movies are perfect - you're only going to make yourself look like an ******* by remaking them. Go remake something that's a piece of **** and make it good. Like with my movie (House of 1000 Corpses) I have elements of Chain Saw in it because I love that movie so much, but I wouldn't dare want to "remake" it. It's like a band trying to be another band. You can sound like The Beatles, but you can't be The Beatles.

So why redo it? What needs fixing?

This film doesn't seem to be about "fixing." It's giving it a new interpretation and a different story on what we originally know about it. That's something that makes it interesting and make it fresh from the usual remake.

My first reaction to this being announced was along the lines of "Aw man :(" But then I checked out the Elite Squad films and really liked them! When the actor was announced for Murphy I was kinda pissed it wasn't Magnetobender buttt I never heard of Chris Hemsworth before Thor and ended up loving him so I'll give this guy a chance. Now Oldman?! I'm sold on the idea.

I loved Robocop 1&2 and let's not look at this as a replacement...its just another Robocop fable that's totally separate so why let it bother you? I'm sure it'll be amazing in its own way!

He changed his stance a few years later and said they actually did well with the remake of Chainsaw because they did something new with it. That's the reason he accepted Halloween because he felt he could do something different with it.

I'm a huge Zombie fan and that's definitely a great quote, it's just sad he ended up making a remake of Halloween which is indeed a horror classic.

Sadly I don't agree with him about the Chainsaw remake.

I think its the second best in the franchise. The sequels for chainsaw are awful.

Ok, I'll agree with that although Chainsaw 2 is a guilty pleasure.

Well I would think they take a que from I'm and have a pratical suit for close up/standing scenes. But for any high movement scenes just have a partial suit/mocap suit and cgi it later in. I still hope overall they won't go to out there with design and keep classicial robo elements in.

I'm surprised they didnt decide to go with the human-looking cyborg, with all the robotics being inside him. Like the Six Million-Dollar Man.

Webhead, that would be ideal. The same way they made Iron Man work.

If they keep anything I hope its the scene when Murphy dies. It was so outrageously graphic lol

-DOOM :doom:
