Yeah, I like Pine well enough but people around here seem to think he's perfect for EVERYTHING. And that's quite a contrast to their reaction when he was initially announced as Kirk. People b**ched up a storm before they ever gave him a chance.

BUt the thing is, I see so many people complaining how all young actors are these pretty boys and how they don't look like "real men" and then they all fawn of Pine. Stupid

and yeah they would make for the worst casting directors

I think some people lack perspective on what they're saying. And it's always the pool actors that fanboys chose from because, surprisingly, I think many fanboys aren't up to par with their movies. Not just popcorn or genre movies, but I'm talking about dramas, indie, foreign, etc. Especially indie. That's where we get actors like Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender. That's how Ryan got more respect as an actor, along with Joe Gordon Levitt.

Yep, fantastic movies the both of 'em. They are different from each other yet are equally good (I like the sequel just a bit more though), I recently bought the first one on BR.

I wouldn't have mind pine but we don't even know who tested besided joel. So we have no baring on other choices they could have gone. Now I haven't seen anythig joel has done. But I heard good things about his work. And from his comments since getting cast he seems like a great choice.

I think Joel did a great job...and yes, I know, I haven't seen him. But you never hear much of people being miscast or giving a bad performance nowadays. So he must have aced his audition above everyone else.

Don't be closed minded about it! We haven't seen ANYTHING from the movie, not even concept art or any images from the set. I have many doubts about this movie, but who knows? This could end up being really good for all we know.

Totally but joe films he done he has a good handle on this type of film and both joe and joel comments for the story and view for character they seem to have the right mind set.

There getting all of these awesome actors/actresses to play these potentially smaller supporting roles. It really makes me wonder who they'll get as the villains of the piece.
