And you judge an actor's talent from that how exactly?

Oh, I forgot, internet logic:

Looks like the character = great casting

Doesn't look like the character = can't see it, bad casting

When movie comes out = he is the ONLY person I can see playing this character

:funny:

So true!

The complaint that he doesn't look the part is weird, anyway. He's just a tall lanky guy with sharp features... whereas Peter Weller was a tall lanky guy with sharp features. And really, the only appearance criteria for Robocop are 1) that you be tall and lanky enough to look normally proportioned in the suit, and 2) that your jaw looks good in the helmet.

Naturally, performance is another matter, and I don't expect him to be as good as Weller--but I wouldn't expect anyone to be as good as Weller, so it's not like that's a comment on his acting ability (of which I know nothing one way or the other). My opinion is just that performances that good are rare, so I don't expect one.

Picard like I said before the film hasn't even started shooting yet. Film starts in sept. So we won't see anything offical or leaked to then. Same with teaser/trailer won't likely to see that to probably jan the earliest.

or at least see some concept art, idk

I would have liked her for Lewis. She's feisty!!! But I don't mind her as Murphy's wife.

Really looking forward to this and Man of Steel next year. I like Kinnaman on the Killing and the rest of this cast speaks for itself.

I don't know her work. But sounds like another good addition.

Damn Cornish would have been a hot hot HOT Officer Lewis!!! Ah well I look forward to who actually gets to be her.

Am I the only one that feels like Sam Jackson doesn't belong with the rest of this cast?

He's playing a ridiculous media mogul along the lines of "I'd buy that for a dollar" guy. I think he fits right in actually if you consider the role he's playing.

Totally if his role is like that tv dude in original he is perfect fitting.

Watch The Killing. He plays a cop and is the best character in the show. Now even if he isn't Murphy like in the show, he is a terrific actor. He's been in oher stuff too of course.

No I'm not. Just pointing out that the helmet is pretty iconic and they should at least try keeping something similar (not exactly the same) to the original design. I'm not saying for him to have the same exact helmet.

To be honest I'm still watching this even if he's radically changed. I'm one of the few who has been supportive since Padilha got hired.

Most here haven't even bothered watching the Tropa De Elite movies which shows this man has an incredible eye for crime dramas and action.

I get ya. I do think the suit will be more sleak though.

If there is any truth to that info/rumours that were leaked a while ago regarding story tidbits, characters to be cast and the possible actors and actresses they were looking at for the roles. Then Lewis looks like she may be a guy this time around. :oldrazz:

It looks as though there may actually be some truth to this info that was released back in April.

The report stated that the makers were looking at Edward Norton as the mastermind who brings Robo to life. Sean Penn as a right wing media mogul/tv anchor. Rebecca Hall as Murphy' Wife. And Gael Bernal Garcia as Jack Lewis, Murphy's Partner.

So far we have Gary Oldman as Robo's creator. Samuel L. Jackson as a media mogul. And Abbie Cornish in talks for Murphy's wife.

At the moment things seem to be panning out very similarly to each other.

Is the film set between the murphy dying and them switching robo on then? so this film is set between those moments and is actually set in the same universe as the original or is it a completely different universe, are we to see Murphy shot to pieces again. I mean i love robocop, but just cant see how this will work?

It's just a remake where they want to linger a little more in the creation process before he becomes Robocop a little longer then in the original.

I hope it doesn't just end where when he is activated... that would be silly considering the name of the film is Robocop and not OCP.

In terms of that now he appears in every second franchise I thought "damn, not him again!!". But the character of a powerful TV mogul fits him I think. Though, I expected a bit more unexpected casting.

BTW has anyone seen Kinnaman in anything other than The Killing? I thought he was quite superb in Snabba Cash.

Yeah, another one who have seen Snabba Cash, it's like the Swedish equivalent to the Pusher movies. On the whole the movie is alright but the three leads elevated it and it's definitely better than most movies released in Sweden nowadays. Kinnman's performance in that should definitely get people's attention. He looks to have another fantastic performance in the second movie from what I've seen in the trailers.

Yes as I and others mention a few pages ago this is a totally new film. Ie reboot/remake/reimaging what ever term you like to say. No connection to the original films. But yes the theme for the film is more of how humanity is lost and murphy becomes a machine. Which was more glossed over in original.
