Dark of the Moon Robocop's "Peter Weller" rumored to be voicing Rodimus Prime.

I'm not biting.

First of all, 'cuz it's IMDB. Secondly, it already sounds too good to be true.

If Peter Weller is doing a voice in the movie, he' be much better for Prowl or Ultra Magnus than Hot Rod/Rodimus.

It would be cool if he were... but as it's the oh so trustworthy IMDB... i'm holding my breath on this.

imdb once had Leonard Nimroy as Ultra Magnus

Agreed with Jake, Weller would be an amazing Ultra Magnus, other than that, I cant see Rodimus Prime being in this movie, I very doubt they would kill Optimus for the second film running.

lol.... since when did the movies follow the cartoon storyline anyway?

Megatron returned and he didnt become Galvatron.

Rodimus could very well plop down to Earth in the third movie

Maybe Rodimus Prime already came to be centuries ago so they wouldn't have to delve into the backstory of how Hot Rod became a Prime. A Prime doesn't always have to die before another is bestowed with the name.

Maybe Rodimus, Ultra Magnus & other transformers followed Megatron to earth centuries ago & suffered the same fate as Megatron & they haven't been discovered until now.

I'm sure people have thought of that idea before...

In the second movie they introduced a decepticon "higher" than Megatron.

Maybe in the third movie, they will do an Autobot higher than Optimus?

Since its IMDB I wont get my hopes up. It would be real awesome to have at least Hot Rod. That Lambo is lookin more to be Rod.

But how can he be a Prime? By cartoon continuity, Optimus would need to give him The Matrix, by movie continuity, the Prime's in ROTF said Optimus is their last descendant, and if you include the comics, Optimus is the only Prime in existence at the moment.

Erm, yes they do, above for more.

If they did do that, it would be sacrilage if it was Rodimus, who was not a very popular Prime. If they were going to do that it would need to be Sentinal Prime, Nova Prime or most likely Primus himself.

Agreed. Weller wouldn't make a bad Shockwave either if they didn't bring back Corey Burton. When it comes to Hot Rod, Michael Rosenbaum has also been my choice.

Prime or not Hot Rod's legal name now is Rodimus regardless, Hasbro can't even use the Hot Rod name for the toy because of the Hot Rod name already being a trademarked property itself.

Isn't that what happened with Jazz and Ratchet too? The toys were called 'Autobot Jazz' and 'Autobot Ratchet'. Couldn't they just do the same thing with Hot Rod? 'Autobot Hot Rod'.

I think the Toy is now called "Hot Rodimus"...at least from what I've seen of newer versions of the toy

Could be that he's Optimus's son.

And I dont recall the other Primes saying Optimus was the last.

Erm, yes they do, above for more.

Actually thats continuity specific.

Theres is president in other series for more then 1 Prime at a time.

That same trick wont work for Hot Rod.

2 question:

Why?

and

How would you know what they can and can't use?

Also, it's precedent, not president. :woot:

2 question:

Why?

Because the name "HOT ROD" currently belongs to Hot Rod Magazine.

The "Pre-Fix Autobot" trick only works because the character does not bear any real resemblance to the item copy righted name belongs too.

In the case of Autobot Ratchet....the pre-fix trick works because the toy has no resemblance to a "ratchet" which is a tool.

In "Hot Rod"'s case the pre-fix wouldnt work because Hot Rod is a car, and the magazine is about Cars.

So the name can be used in the fiction [comics/books], but the toy couldnt be named HotRod with out paying HotRod magazine for the rights.

Now if Hot Rod was a plane........

How would you know what they can and can't use?
Its been explained by Hasbro a number of times over the past 10 years, at different conventions.
Also, it's precedent, not president. :woot:
Thanks
