Verehoven to make new Robocop film?

Anyone else heard this one? Someone sent me the rumor on myspace but waiting for link to source. Something about Delta City is up, Robocop is obsolete, Peter Weller is back, and it's gonna blow away the first one. It supposedly takes place a generation after the first film. This could be total BS...I'll update you soon. It was supposedly on some Canadian TV show, website.

Here's one that (if the lid is blown off) one that will obliterate everyone's mind! Robocop 4???? I heard Paul Verhoeven will do it again - and make the first one look weak - weaker than Frank Miller's bloody version. According to Verhoeven - the first three movies including the Prime directives series and live t.v. show on Canadien television will be 'nothing at all' compared to this new and improved cyber machine. Iron man may be the preamp to the even more gorier and high-tech Robocop 4! Sooooo, if this is so, it's either going to be a remake - or an actual follow-up to Robocop 3 and the Prime Directives home dvd series. Peter Weller and Robert John Burke said the role would be even cooler this time around being an older Robo in a now obsolete body with a near supreme technologic future city! Delta City is now up, but rumors have it Clarence Botticker's son and Dick Jones' nephew may be portrayed by Detroit's very own heavy weights - Eminem (Botticker's son) and Gene Simmons (Jones' own family jewels)! There are rumors suggesting I.C.P. will be the new and way more deadlier improved and 'not so corny' splatter punks! Kid Rock also is rumored to be a strung out on heroin 'now fired for not killing his own father' in Prime Directives - Alex Murphy Jr. - Robocop's son!! KISS is also rumored to be in it - according to the theme songs' point of view. But, other aspiring actors also have wanted to take the role - such as Jon Cena - (only if they do an actual remake!) The guy who played Hunter whom was originally supposed to get the leading role in 89' thought it heartful - being a big guy and all. Even the Prime Directives and T.V. Beat guys expressed interest in an older Alex James Murphy Robocop. Buuuuuut, Randy 'The Natural' even though rumored to do Captain America - will do this one as well if the check clears! Sooooo, if any of this is true - loyal leaker of the universe - please tell me!! I only got these rumors off a Canadien Website - and I don't know if it's really true or not. Sounds kind of out there to me if it's true. The casting part is where I start to doubt it. LOL I can't tell what's the rumor and what's the fanboy wet-dream. Or is it all just pure BS. I'm sure Verehoven would do it if it was superior to the 1st.

There were plans to do a Robocop Remake a little while ago but such plans have been squashed, again, a while ago. There was a rumor akin to this years ago and nothing ever came of it. So again I'll tkae this with a grain of salt but I'd always like to see an adaptation of Robocop 2: Corporate Wars, the original script for the sequal to robocop 2 by the original writers....

Robocop 2 had it's moments.

As far as the topic of discussion goes, seems kinda far fetched. Unfortunately, I see a remake happening before a sequel gets a greenlight, but stranger things have happened I suppose.

I'd much rather see a CG/animated adaptation of Frank Millers original Robocp 2 script, which they butchered and turned into Robocop 2 and 3...

Robocop is still one of my favorite films. The sequel was just ok. The 3rd one sucked. Total Recall by Verhoven is still my favorite film of all time. Period...#1. Some might laugh at that but I can't get over that movie. Just loved it.

well the chances of a proper Robocop movie like the 1st and even 2nd are virually nill.

can you imagine the censors these days allowing Verhoeven to show that brutal killing scene of Murphy ?

I very much doubt it.

Its not the difficult at all to make a new Robocop movie if done right.

Just place the continuaty after the original Robocop movie. Ignore all the events of part 3. It will be fine.

Have Robocop in a more brutal detroit, plenty of action, gore and humour.

Although having said that, will they be able to get the actor who says "I'll buy that for a dollar !" ??

Oh yeah, they need to put that Henchman of Boddickers, the one who screams and laughs like a woman !

Even more so, i have never seen an actor who made such a role memorable as the guy who played Clarence Boddicker.

It doesn't matter what movie or show he is in, that guy is always going to be Clarence Boddicker. A legend.

Yeah, this has been doing the rounds on the internet for a while now, i first heard it back in 2003.

I hope they do it though (though not with that cast) Robocop being out of date just sounds awesome and Peter Weller has got to return.
