Drama Rocky/Creed Cinematic Universe Thread

How old is Creed supposed to be in these movies?

I'm not sure the exact timeline because there appears to be a significant time jump between II and III given his daughter is a lot older in III but that aside I figure he was born in either 1985 or 1986. I can't remember for sure but I think it was said in one of the movies that he was born after Apollo died.

Just seems odd that Dame who already looks a few years older based on the flashbacks thinks he can be a champion if he’s already on the higher range of the prime age group for boxing

Yeah, but it kind of fits within the world of the series already. Mr. T I assume was supposed to be around Rocky’s age in the third one, mid-30s. Just never got his shot. Kind of same scenario.

It really says something about the power of the characters and world of the Rocky/Creed franchise that out of 9 movies which are narratively trapped in a boxing formula that only 1 film is considered universally bad. The reviews for Creed 3 are impressive given how long the franchise has gone.

Caught Creed 3 tonight. Very very good! Stunning to me that back in 2015 if you told me Rocky would have the better legacy sequel trilogy over Star Wars, I'd be a major skeptic. Majors is a great antagonist. Maybe the best right below Apollo? And man, his fighting style is so addictive to watch. I think there are things I wanted more of here and there but overall I really like where they take the characters, and think the family dynamic is great. I'm definitely going to discuss more once other folks in here catch the flick.

As of now I rank the films:
Rocky
Creed
Creed III
Rocky II
Creed II
Rocky Balboa
Rocky III
Rocky IV: Director's Cut
Rocky V
Rocky IV

However I also love ranking the final fights of these movies which I'll do here:
Rocky II
Creed
Rocky Balboa
Creed III (for now)
Creed II
Rocky III
Rocky IV
Rocky
Rocky V

Yeah, I mean, the only time this series went “force ghost” was in Rocky V with Mickey appearing to Rocky. Not sure they should “borrow” that lol

One thing that has me a bit concerned is this “Creed Universe” talk. They mentioned a Drago spin-off a few months back. I think this is a really bad way to go to quickly turn something special to running it into the ground. Especially this series which has been so personal for each and every entry.

Even Stallone’s proposed idea of having Rocky getting lost in some country overseas and befriending a young fighter just seems to be getting away from what makes this series one of the few to still hold its magic.

Carl is such a cool dude. Had the pleasure of meeting him a little over a year ago. I don't really know how you'd be able to bring him back. Not sure I want to see the de-aged tech brought in here honestly either. The only time it seems to have ever looked really good is in the upcoming Indiana Jones film.

His stint on Arrested Development as well in Happy Gilmore will forever make him one of my favorite actors on screen. I’m glad he got a mini-comeback with Mandalorian.

Yeah I can see why Stallone has had a falling out with Winkler. This isn’t the Creed Universe. This is the Rocky Universe and people tend to forget that.

As a lifetime Stallone fan, I'm conflicted on whether I should feel bad for him on this or feel that he should get over it. Rocky is his baby and the reason he is where he is so I understand how protective he is over it. I understand he made some mistakes with his trusting of Winkler and such, but I feel very disappointed that Sly cannot enjoy this.

Just got out of an early screening of Creed III. Wow, that was damn good and another great entry to this classic series. Everything you hear about the innovative fight scenes is true. I'm so happy Michael B Jordan was able to pull this off and he's got a great career ahead of him as director. I think everybody gave their best performances in this film out of all 3 so far. and Johnathan Majors? This dude is ferocious. He was the stand out for me, and easily one of the most memorable villains of the franchise. He's unsettling in a ticking time bomb sort of way. Reminded me a bit of Mike Tyson at times, id say.

Overall, this is a great film and a great debut for Michael B Jordan as director. Creed now can firmly stand on its own and continue to carve its own legacy going forward and I'll be here for however many more of these they make.
