As did I. I didn't know much about Polanski before this film (*other than his marvelous filmmaking), but I think this film presented an unbiased look at the real case.

I believe so, yes. In the documentary, though, I remember a bit (toward the end) after Roman had fled, that a different judge was willing to let him back after he would serve another ninety days, but Roman didn't want the media.

It's been awhile since I paid attention to what he has worked on but I remember he did The Ninth Gate which was shown in America's theatres.

Polanski's biography is indeed full of intersting events. He not only escaped from ghetto, but also an affair with some actress, because of who he had to leave USA. Moreover, his wife was raped and killed by Charles Manson. This guy deserves his own biopic!

He even won an Academy Award for The Pianist with Adrian Brody.

I thought his wife was only killed, and not raped by Mason's followers; she was 7 months or so pregnant I think and was about to give birth soon. And he escaped to other country because he had sex with a minor, and wasn't willing to go to jail for it.

He did have sex with a minor, but the reason behind him fleeing is what the film deals with for a good portion.
