So this is finally becoming a reality. Kudrow and Sorvino are back to star and exec produce, the original writer penned the sequel and 20th Century Studios will be releasing it. Production starts this July.

Beetlejuice 2 and the two most recent Bad Boys movies were pretty successful but none of those count as strictly comedies.

Yeah, funny I never thought of those or Beverly Hills Cop as straight up comedies.

Romy and Michelle is more in tone of Anchorman or Dumb and Dumber kind of comedy.

I forgot about Anchorman 2. That one actually wasn't bad. Nowhere near the level of the first movie but it was a success at the box office and with critics so I'd say that's an anomaly as far as legacy comedy sequels, if we want to count 9.5 years as enough time to classify it as a legacy sequel.

I never got the love for Anchorman and I hated Dumb and Dumber. I skipped both sequels.
