A place to talk about one of my favorite animes of all time!

Those OVA films are poor representations of the series, in my opinion. They don't represent the authors intent and I hear he was not fond of them.
I think all the movies were good I think they showed alot of his past to be honest
I think I understand what your saying to a certain degree, but it is referred that Kenshin will die at the end of it with the disease correct?Yūgi's BM;12148765 said:His past was explained in the comic, too.
One thing I have a big problem with is how 'Reflections' makes no sense at all. Why, after all that he had been through, would Kenshin feel guilty for living a happy life? He had found his answer, he had made his peace. After Enishi was defeated Kenshin's developement was finished. He was maxed out. He got the happy ending he deserved.
Another thing I dislike about those OVAs are how their tone is totally different from what RuroKen is. It's a Shônen comic and in the imortal words of Nobuhiro Watsuki: "Shônen Manga are all about smilies and happy endings" (or something to that effect).

hmmm to be honest i never read the mangas i just watched all the shows and the movies, but for some reason i thought that the movies were based upon cannon events, but guess notYūgi's BM;12153480 said:In the comic he was never sick. Megumi said that in four or five years he could never use Hiten again, due to the strain it puts on his body.
But for whatever reason, while traveling around in the OVA the writers had him get sick (probably brought on by his depression), share the sickness with Kaoru (on her request), leaves to go fight some war, returns to home, and then dies with Kaoru.
Like I said, it makes no sense because it just throws out the Manga's actual ending to put poor Kenshin through more bull.
but wht would be your favorite fight in the series?

probably the only way they could have done it was remarking that he had completely worn his body down to practice his sword style and hence passed it to Yahiko. another reason could have been that he had to sacrifice that for the sake of being a family person.Yūgi's BM;12153480 said:In the comic he was never sick.
