Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black is prepping his next feature, a 1970s-set film noir titled The Nice Guys. The Wrap today reports that Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are being eyed for roles in the project, although the outlet notes that discussions are decidedly nascent.

Set in Los Angeles, The Nice Guys pairs a fighter and a private detective as they attempt to solve a murder.Cannes.

Joel Silver is producing The Nice Guys.
Ohhhhh the potential! :awesome: This is perfect material for Black.

YEEEEESSSS! Can't wait. I really hope those two sign on for it, too. That would be a nice change of pace for the both of them.

Good God. My heart just near burst out of my chest. This is the greatest sounding thing ever. Give it to me now, Black. I need this in my life.

EDIT: Just came back to check if this movie is out yet.

No. :csad:

Sounds awesome. Love Black. Love Crowe. Love Gosling. No homo.

I like the sound of this :woot:

I think the big twist will be that these guys aren't very nice.

Warner Bros. Dates Shane Black's Crime-Drama, The Nice Guys

Warners Bros. Pictures will be releasing Black's new movie, his third as writer/director, and they've set its release date to June 17, 2016. This puts it on the same day as Pixar Animation's sequel Finding Dory and supposedly, DreamWorks Animation's How To Train Your Dragon 3--although why that hasn't officially been moved yet is beyond us.

Not a fan of Gosling. I was watching The Place Beyond the Pines the other week and almost turned it off because of his vacant eyed "acting". Thankfully I stuck it through, the film improved immensely once he was out the window. Absolutely didn't get the fuss over Drive either.

Looking forward to this one nonetheless.

I'll be more excited if Gosling drops out, but I Shane Black is like a God to me, there's no way I'm not seeing this.

Jeez, how many films does Shane have on his plate!? Lol. But count me in opening night, love Shane Black.

Shane Black's The Nice Guys Gets Some Bad Guys

Keith David (They Live) and Beau Knapp (Super 8) are going to be taking on Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in Shane Black's comedic noir thriller, The Nice Guys. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, claiming that David and Knapp will play hitman partners with Knapp's character noted for being both garrulous and clumsy.

Also set to star Matt Bomer, Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley, The Nice Guys is set in 1970s Los Angeles and pairs an ex-fighter (Crowe) and a private detective (Gosling) as they attempt to solve a murder.

The Nice Guys, which was scripted by both Black and Anthony Bagarozzi, hits theaters on June 17, 2016.

So this started filming, and apparently Kim Basinger joined the cast, not sure if that was known before.

Pity we have to wait over a year and a half to see it. Maybe we get lucky and it all goes really well and they bump it up to late 2015.

Shane Black is like Guillermo Del Toro in the way that everytime he's finally got a film lensing it's cause for celebration.

Crowe looks so old compared to the baby-faced RyGos, the King of Kings. Musicmaker of music.

This is quite funny.
