Ryan Coogler IS Marvel's 'Black Panther' Director

Coogler while a comic fan, doesn't come off as interested in a Avengers movie. Let him do BP2 and BP3, and give the man what he wants.

I just want to see what Coogler wants to do next even if is not more Black Panther, but, he might do that, too.

He'll probably have time to do other projects in between sequels.

hmmm Coogler to Feige "Hey im willing to do a BP2, but not until a release date of 2022" If I'm Feige I would wait.

It'd be nearly that long before they had time to crank one out anyway

Just wait for him. Please wait for him. I'm not as excited about Creed 2 as i would have been if he was directing it. 3 Amazing films under his belt.

Sky's the limit now for Coogler.

Dude is 31 and is known the "IT Guy" in the industry

BP's success definitely opened a lot more avenues for him. But I wouldn't want him tied down to a franchise without doing other projects.

I don't see a problem with that at all. He seems like he still wants to do indies or films that connect on a deeper level. Like award worthy. No fears of him trying to do Transformer-types to get that $$$

Don't Matter what Marvel wants as long as it's a great film.

Yes, it does, because its not about one film. Its about an entire universe of films, with them all contributing to each other to achieve heights impossible alone. Sacrificing that for a single film going off its own random direction is a waste.

Heh, that pic with the article. I remember when it first came out a couple years back some weirdos were trying to make it about a "gay agenda" and/or "emasculating black males".

Jesus tap dancing Christ. Thinking like this... This is why we can't have nice things.

I wonder what those with that opinion think today after seeing BP?

You're right. I wasn't aware it was from a few years ago. My sister had posted on FB. But yeah, it's really annoying how some idiots took that and ran with it.

The film's concept is really intriguing though. If he was able to do a film on this; MY GOD.

Just to clarify I only meant the pic. The article seems to be recent.

This. That's one more thing that puts Marvel above DC. They are good at making films that can stand on their own, but still blend all the MCU movies together like a puzzle. That's why I don't mind if it takes a little longer to crank out a good story for any of their sequels.

This is why Marvel Studios' collection of B/C/D list superheroes could, over time, dwarf DC's more popular staples of Superman/Batman/WW; they built on the success of one another and with the success of team up movies like The Avengers, all of them got catapulted into super stardom and household names.

Optimistically, BP2 wouldn't be until 2021 prob at the earliest. So Coogler has time to do another project between.

That's what I'd go for. Let him do a smaller film before returning fulltime to BP2

Coogler will return. Marvel is a great place to work with post-Perlmutter and the movie is a smash hit. I'm 90% he will return.

Oh, no doubt. But I'm sure he wants to do that "Wrong Answer" and perhaps return to his roots so to speak. Maybe Gunning for an award-type celebre with his next project. He can still do this film once MBJ finishes Creed 2 and start Black Panther pre-production next summer.

After watching Black Panther today, I say Marvel Entertainment should get Ryan Coogler to return as director for a sequel!
