Ryan Reynolds is the Green Lantern - Part 1

So, if people disagree, I can't express my opinion. I don't see people, I see one or two people who like to bash people instead of having an interesting convo.

At least I started a discussion going jeeezzzzzzzzzz

It's not about disagreeing. You make no attempt to debate about this stuff. You show up in these forums and tell everyone who should and shouldn't be playing a particular character. And when someone has a different opinion than you (which is most of the time) you make childish remarks, indicating that their ideas are horrible but giving no real reason as to why.

And more to the point - Reynolds has already been cast. There's no point in talking about who might have been better because it isn't happening. And until you actually see the movie, you really don't know if anyone else would have been better.

I do feel flattered that you monitor and moderate my posts, but hey, I can still express an opinion, I'm allowed to. You can disagree or agree....... not make assumptions about what I'm doing.

But, if you want to rally members here and create a Facebook Group page called "Haters of DIRECTOR", than be my guest.

Now, can we go back to discussing Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern and what Hal Jordan is like in the comics please

Thanks!

I think these guys are wasting your time, DIRECTOR. Just ignore them (unless it's a mod).

I was just pointing out the absurdity of him claiming to know little about Hal Jordan, then declaring who would have been better for the part. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but their opinion holds less weight when they announce to everyone that they don't know what they're talking about before they give it.

I'm not even saying he's wrong (I've always thought Reynolds would make a great Wally West) just stating the obvious.

Sure...

How can you say Ryan Reynolds isn't right for Hal Jordan when you've said you don't know much about Green Lantern? And how can you bring up his background in doing comedic roles as a slight against him, then propose another actor who has a background in comedic roles instead?

I'll give you credit, that was pretty clever.

Anyway, people seem to have the perception that Reynolds is only good at playing wisecracking smartasses in his movies. To be fair, most of the characters he's played in his hit films have been in that vein. However, any doubts I had about him as an actor were put to rest with the film Buried.

Granted, he played a classic "everyman" type, which some might say is not hard to pull off. But being as to how he carried the entire movie by himself, I found it to be an amazing performance and an amazing film. We are invested in him the whole way through, and if you had an actor that was unwatchable or unlikable, the movie would probably become boring. But Reynolds is never dull in the film, nor does he ham it up with some over-the-top cheesy performance. It's a shame that the film was ignored... from what I understand, the studios all passed on making it so they had to film it in Spain and when they brought it to the States, it pretty much got blackballed.

Anything DIRECTOR says is not going to change anything now. Ryan Reynolds and the cast that we have is just that and no amount of constructive or destructive criticism is going to change that.

I've seen the cartoons, but not enough of Green Lantern to really know him, his background and villians are a mystery to me since there isn't a cartoon of solely him (which is coming soon).

But, from what i seen and how he is portray, and than I see Ryan Reynolds, i can't see GL. If you look at the first teaser, it screams The Flash with Ryan's deliver of dialogues...... but oh well..

Anybody noticed that the new better trailers arne't focusing on the comidic side of Ryan's role

Amongst all this "Why are you guys hating me?" stuff you still haven't explained why you think Bradley Cooper would be a better Green Lantern after admitting to knowing next to nothing about the character. Also, do you know more about the Flash than Green Lantern?

RR is pretty fit for Hal. Before he was Green Lantern, he was pretty much how RR acts in all of his other films... Plus he can pull off serious just as well. I seriously have no doubts in RR. He seems like he wants to do the character justice throughout all the interviews I've seen him in.

Probably because the humor isn't the central tone of the movie and the character, not to mention the newer trailers are portraying the movie the way it should be, and the FX were developed to the point where it could show a lot of the space opera elements.

If you don't really know GL, then how can you say whether you see him when you see Reynolds? It sounds like it's easier to see Reynolds as Flash since you know more about Flash than GL.

I bet Ryan Reynolds will incorporate perfectly Hal Jordan in the end:

Yeah, the hot rod construct almost looks like a 1941 Plymouth Coupe.

Here is Ryan Reynolds' appearance on Regis and Kelly today (Green Lantern talk at 4:00 mins):

Ryan Reynolds has a comic-book movie curse.

Blade: Trinity was bad, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was terrible and now Green Lantern!

He just seems to be going through the motions with most of these press appearances.

Now we know why.

RR was the perfect Hal Jordan.

Jordan was never even a good character in the comics. He never even had a distinct personality like Superman, Batman, Wolverine or Spider-man. He was bland, lifeless, generic and Reynolds make us care about Jordan and is very charismatic which, imo, is a great feat.

I want a .GIF of Ryan and Conan doing the studio exec freakout. Bad.
