New group image with the new character design/art direction:

Adorable, if you ask me. Unlike most of Crystal's group pictures, the Senshi are making facial expressions that make them look like they have some sort of personality, or something.

The new art design looks more like the 90's anime to me, but an updated version of it. Now, let's start a prayer circle for better animation!

I'm honestly expecting more of the same in terms of the bad pacing/storytelling with this Arc, but if the animation quality is improved, then at least I'll have some pretty visuals to look at.

So, the super-talented dude behind pretty much ALL of the artwork for the international marketing for the 20th Anniversary, Marco Albiero (just look up his work on Google Images; his work is fantastic), just posted this picture on Facebook. It's his spin on the new Sailor Moon Crystal image, making it look like the 90's anime artwork. Now, so far I think the new Sailor Moon Crystal art style is an improvement over the first two Arcs ... But this is proof like no other to me that you can't beat the 90's art style (especially if it's Ikuko Itō's art style). The image is SO much prettier when it looks like the 90's anime!

I'm currently watching this show for the first time and I finished the first 22 episodes in like 2 to 3 days and I'm down to the last four!!!

Is the new season gonna feature two story-arcs like the first season or just one story-arc? I'm okay with 26 episodes dedicated to the Ghost Busters story-arc especially Sailor Uranus, Sailor Saturn and Sailor Saturn are gonna be introduced, I don't think they need to finish it within 12 to 14 episodes.

At first what I liked about Crystal was that I felt like I did not need to rewatch the first 80+ episodes of the 90s series just to finish the arcs for Dark Kingdom and Black Moon. People also said this is more faithful to the manga. The other sailors are also introduced pretty early and rewatching those 80+ episodes would take me a month or two so I just decided to watch Crystal which I haven't seen before. But then a lot of characters weren't really developed except for Usagi chan, Chibiusa and Tuxedo Mask and I felt like with the 90s anime, the other sailors were showcased more. Things also felt rushed, like I liked that I didn't have to sit through 20 episodes just to watch the sailors fighting the monster of the episode, because that would get tiring to watch and I didn't have to wait for 20 episodes until the motivation of the villain is revealed but I didn't really get to know the villains I guess except for the lead villains. The lack of romance between the Sailor Guardians and their boyfriends from their past life was weird.

So over-all I thought Crystal was so-so, the first few episodes were nice but then it became all about Usagi Chan once the other four sailors are all introduced and things just happened really fast. Though I did like Sailor Pluto, I liked the tease to Sailor V and I liked when the girls gave their speech after they transformed. The animation is okay, like I'm a 90s kid and I still prefer the animation of the animes from the 90s and animation is a factor if I want to watch a new anime. The animation of this is better than the popular animes out there like One Piece, Naruto, Fairy Tale and Bleach. I have only finished two animes from this decade other than Crystal, those are Hunter X Hunter 2011 and Seven Deadly Sins and I prefer the animation of those two than Crystal. But still its far from bad and I was instantly drawn to the series simply because I knew the characters from when I was a kid.

I think the 90's Sailor Moon anime needs the DBZ Kai treatment.

A few years back, Toei went back over Dragon Ball Z, stripped out all of the filler episodes, touched up the special effects, gave it a snazzy new theme song and opening animation sequence, etc. It was pretty good. It reduced a 291 episode anime to only 159 episodes.

If you were to take out Sailor Moon's more superfluous episodes and only keep the important ones (introductions/departures of enemies, a sailor using a new power/transformation for the first time, when an important piece of information about the story arc is revealed), you could probably reduce those 40-something episode seasons down to 20-something episodes.

-The season will officially premiere on April 4th in Japan (no word yet on when it will stream)
-This season will be aired weekly, not bimonthly
-There will be a new opening song (New Moon ni A****e [Fall in Love with the New Moon], sung by Etsuko Yakushimaru)
-There will be a new ending song (Eternal Eternity, a duet sung by Uranus and Neptune)
-The transformations are no longer CG!
-The show is no longer a strictly 1:1 adaptation of the manga as some chapters will be split into two episodes.
-Overall this season will be more faithful to the manga, keeping in more of the funny faces, etc

All of this news sounds VERY promising.

If this show finds a way to redeem itself, that would be fantastic.

With the new season premiering in a few days, the new opening credits and the new end credits have surfaced online (officially, by Toei).

I think the new opening is all right, but the ending theme is where it's at! I love it.

The first episode of the Infinity Arc is out now! Crunchyroll and Hulu are streaming it, subtitled!

First impressions:

1. The animation and character designs are a VAST improvement over the previous 26 episodes.

2. THE CGI TRANSFORMATIONS ARE GONE! Good ol' 2D animation now, and it looks awesome (and this is coming from someone who never hated the CGI transformations).

3. The Inner Senshi show more of their personalities off in this episode, and Jupiter and Venus got to kill the monster/Daimon! I really liked how this episode kinda showed that Mako-Chan and Minako are BFFs (especially cool since they're my two favorite characters).

4. I love the voice acting for Michiru and Haruka so far, especially Haruka.

5. This episode was fun. I like fun. Okay, Crystal ... You have my interest for this season at the moment.

I loved the new episode. I was hoping Crystal would get around to using some of the attacks from the manga that never made it to the old anime, and Wink Chain Sword & Coconut Cyclone were more than I dreamed of.

Sailor Moon's transformation is so fast now. I'm used to her's taking forever, no matter which anime I'm watching.

You know what was a little surprising and not unwelcome? The way everyone was reintroduced. They were catering to new viewers, which seems like a pretty smart move. Some people probably actively avoided SMC's first 26 episodes after the mixed reviews, but I think season 3 is heading in the right direction.
