These two were THE BEST in the episode.

Loved them in this episode!

These past 2 episodes, the Inners have been treated better then they have since Crystal began. They actually pack a punch against the monsters of the week thus far.

3 episodes in and I have loved each of them. This is the SM I want and enjoy. Of course this happens to be the strongest arc in the manga, TDK arc in the original anime was my fave overall with this shaping up to be my fave for Crystal.

These three episodes have been solid. I'm enjoying what I'm watching.

Also, my favorite continues to be absolutely adorable. Mako getting excited over Rei's birthday was just the cutest. She's such a good friend. :)

Has this show actually improved? I stopped watching near the end of season 1.

I don't know its too early. I'm waiting for the centric episode/s of Uranus/Neptune if there's one. And even though are the other four seem to be getting more airtime (especially Mars/Jupiter), I still don't get the sense that they are too important to even be in the story.

so I finally watched Season 2 and the 1st ep of Season 3.

1st, in re to Season 2, I found it way more interesting than Season 1. However, as a fighting unit, the Sailor Senshi still seem rather ineffectual.......lol

And in re to Season 3, it seems they are using a different art style, yes?

I like it - seems like a throwback to the original anime style.

And more importantly, in Season 3, the characters show more expression, life, and individual personality than they did in all of Seasons 1 and 2.

Case in point. Mina and Mako getting all fangirly!! :atp:

Also, it seems like Season 3 will revolve around Saturn? I'm interested because Saturn kind of reminds me of Raven from Teen Titans.

Also, I'm confused. Uranus is a girl, right? Does she intentionally dress and act like a guy? Cuz everyone refers to her as he, including fangirls Mina and Mako......lol.

Yes, it definitely has. The pacing is better, the animation is better, the characters are better, etc. I just find that the show is a lot more fun right now.

Just skip season 2 and jump right into season 3. :)

Haruka's "gender identity" has always been left ambiguous when she's introduced. Even the 90's anime started with everyone thinking that Haruka is a boy. Eventually the characters will discover that she's a girl. Usagi probably already has it figured out after the way episode 3 ended. :)

thanks!

just finished watching eps 2 and 3 of Season 3.

wow!! only 3 eps in and Season 3 is already way better and more interesting than Seasons 1 and 2, especially Season 1. It would have been nice if Season 1 of Crystal started this way with this art style and "tone."

I really like how the girls are given a chance to show more of their individual personalities. I've always been partial to Mina/Venus, but now I'm really starting to warm more towards Rei and Mako. Even Usagi is growing on me......lol. Plus, the new Guardians are intriguing.

And the new art style really lends itself to that better expression of personalities than the "cold" and "stiff" style of Season 1 ( Season 2 didn't seem so bad in that regards ). The new art style definitely feels like a throwback to the original anime series. It adds life and fun to the characters and story.

Speaking of story, they really are doing a good job of pushing Haruka's "gender ambiguity." I'm sure Usagi's gonna be so confused after that ending......lol.

I mean, if I didn't know who the character is supposed to be, and if we didn't see her in her Sailor outfit, I would definitely think Haruka is a tall, handsome guy who'd be a rival for Usagi's affection. with Michiru being a rival for Mamo's affection.

And I'm not familiar with the storyline this is based on. But, I take it that the awakening and destruction that's being tied to the 3 talismans is referring to Hotaru and her becoming Saturn?

from what I've read of Saturn, isn't she like the Goddess of rebirth and destruction? And her ultimate weapon/power can destroy an entire planet but it also kills her in the process?

Is that correct?

Would it be bad if I just skip the second season? I've watched most of the first and just couldn't get into the animation, but S3 looks way better.
(I know I really shouldn't, but season one was such a turn off for me)

Season 2 was better than 1, imo.

I'd say skip season 2, especially if you've read the comic books/manga. It's overall better than season 1, but not enough to justify watching the whole thing, in my opinion.

The thing about season 2, is its where Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars became less important unlike in season 1, when they were at least introduced and their debut was teased one by one.

This episode was ok, didn't enjoy it as much as the first 3 but it was still good. I wish they had changed this to be Venus big episode and let her finish off Mimete, Uranus/Neptune debut power scene could've been stronger.

The Rini/Hotaru scenes were great.

I've been enjoying the hell out of this season but the battles have gotten beyond boring and repetitive at this point and the Outers attacks are underwhelming as hell. I was disappointed that Jupiter didnt really get a focus like everyone else has gotten one thus far.

This season is on an absolute roll. I love it.

wow!! Hotaru sure has had it rough. :(

she reminds me a bit of Raven from Teen Titans. so maybe that's why I find her interesting......lol.

Because life has been busy lately, I was behind on this show.

Well, I've finally caught up (even watched the new episode that came out today), and I gotta say that I am LOVING this new season. Crystal has won me over again! Call me pleasantly surprised. :)

The only thing I'm not loving is how they changed the end credits recently. I love the Haruka and Michiru ending much better than the cutesy Chibi-Usa one. :p

So ... Mistress Nine is now the most disturbing character in all of Sailor Moon ... YIKES.

(PS- Still very much loving the season. I have a few gripes, but it's so much better than the first two story arcs.)

What they did was Mistress Nine was great but their reliance on stock footage for battles have been sooo bad and take me out of the story.

It's strange, but if there's one thing the first two seasons of Crystal had going for it, it was that they almost never used stock footage for the sailors' powers. I was okay with the stock footage throughout most of season 3, but it's a little jarring to watching Venus' chain/sword smack against the ground when we know she's supposed to be hovering hundreds of feet in the air.
