Saints Row 2

I liked Vercetti and the 80's feel, it was captured extremely well, but couldn't really identify with C.J or the whole black gang type culture thing.

You only do the gang thing for the first third of the game in San Andreas though. After that, you're off doing missions for secret government guys, and the Yakuza...

Anyone play this game yet?

I picked it up yesterday and I really like it. It's just as fun as the first with some new things to do. Gameplay hasn't changed much and the animations are horrid.

still good fun.

Yeah the developers said they weren't shooting for "realism" per se, this is supposed to be like a comic book. So the bright colors and lights reflect that.

I have the game, beat the story 100%, but there are certain aspects that I haven't gotten to yet, like some of the activities.

Free roaming is fun and amazing, and it's not just "go around shooting people and crashing cars" there's fun stuff to do that has nothing to do with certain other sandbox games.

I read a quote the other day that perfectly describes THIS game: "it is a GREAT and well made game and that is NOT debatable".

People made a lot of GTA4 comments before release, but now that everyone can see it is completely it's own game and unlike any other series, most of those comments have and will stop.

I bought the game on Saturday and regretted it bc I really wasnt feeling it but its growing on me. 1 thing thats hard to get over is the controls and I hate them. I dont like how the combat is mapped to the R2/L2 buttons. I dont like that they have 3 control schemes and they should have included a custom one so I could map them however I wanted to. Im also not a fan of the driving. Cars are too floaty and the physics are crazy. I guess I prefer the realism that GTA IV had going for it when it came to this.

What I love? LOTs of side stuff to do. The game is a bit overwhelming bc there is so much opened up from the start. This being my first SR game, its going to take me a while to get used to things. I like the pedestrians and the crazy stuff you can do to them and the stuff they do to you. I havent played much and need more time with it though. I'll give it a chance

He was complaining about the animations, not the colors.

I've got to disagree with you there, I've always thought that the Saints Row control scheme was far superior to GTA's, and the trigger buttons being the combat stuff is just logical (seeing as how guns have the triggers as well). I also hated how they shoved realism into GTAs driving, made high speed chases harder and less fun when you spin out of control at every turn. But to each his own.

Yea i have to agree with SuperFerret... the controls are great...

On thing i can complain about is the horn button... i have to take my thumb off the gass to hit the horn or turn on sirens... but whatever...

I knew this game would be fun... but its just better then i thought. SO much better. And i even got my gf playin it and she didn't care for it at first lol.

as for the extras... theres too many to list.. and i mean it. You have stunts, you have helicopter assaults... you can do hostages... EVEN IN AIRPLANES! lol and you can sky dive... flash people... go streaking naked (yes thats an activity... NOT just a costume choice)... you escort hos (like the first), impersonate a cop and do shyt you shouldn't (DISPATCHER: "there are kids on skateboards, i dont trust them" FILM CREW: "you guys use chain saws, right?") spray **** (litterly) on people, houses, cars... and those are all activities... not just things u can do

I can go on n on...

And i'm so glad to see that people who thought this game would suck... are giving it a chance. Because, thats the only way youre going to try something new. And its not a surprise that so many people LOVE this game.

Yeah I'm very surprised at how much fun it turned out to be. just discovered the airplanes and private jets...friggin awesome.

This game doesn't take itself seriously.

Just beat it two days ago, what an ending especially the way
Vogel Dies.
Awesome.

I made Léon in the first SR. He came out really well.

I hated the first one as well. Picked this one up and i was shocked. I loved it. Reminded me a lot of san andreas. It's atleast worth a rent.

I really liked the first Saints Row and I'm definitely going to pick the second one up soon.

But does anyone know, or has anyone read, whether or not Saints Row 2 is better on the PS3 or 360?

Like pretty much everything else, I guarantee that they are basically the same.

Id only give the edge to 360, mainly for the multiplayer. You'll find more players on that system and thats where most of the fanbase is since the original came out on it. Plus, GTA IV just got a trophy patch, and I think most fans of the genre are back into that game instead of SR3

i'd go with the 360. Not that the gameplay is better... I believe there isn't a difference... however, as mentioned the multiplayer has more people to join. Even if you don't care for that, the 360 has Acheivements, which creates more goals and enhancing your time playing.

You;d get bored faster on the PS3, i'd say.

The created players I've seen are pretty impressive. Makes it a plus, in my book...been waiting for the price to drop, but I don't think it will anytime soon, so I'll probably just give in and get it.

TDK Joker was probably one of the cool ones I've seen, even though it was so-so looking.

The Duke Nukem and Ah-Nold ones are damn good though.
