Iron Man 2 Sam Rockwell is Justin Hammer

Rockwell was hilarious in this. And yeah, he did do a little dance bit (which got some laughs from the crowd). He was just a delight every time he was on screen.

He didn't really strike me as a fully fledged villain in this, though he clearly did at least one thing that is a criminal act
springing Vanko from prison, something which caused the death of at least two people.

Mostly he just gives off this "I'm not evil, I just want to be liked" kind of vibe.

Exactly. I really don't think that one can qualify Rockwell as a villain.

from I hear, Hammer's just misguided (and insecure) but ultimately not a bad person. Am i right?

Well depends on your definition of bad.
Yes he break out vanko out of the prison but he knows that he doesn't have the intellectual edge that Tony has. He thinks that Vanko can give him that edge. But mostly he's just trying to be Tony Stark 2.0

But as bad as Obadiah was who greed goes so far that he is willing to kill....dunno about that.

How awesome was his dance? That's all I really want to know. I love his dancing, the guy is awesome. Anyone who can make a movie good while being the only actor in it, deserves some kind of awesome award.

And yes, I just used the word Awesome several times, just like in Chuck.

Well...
obviously the one dude whose body doubles for Vanko's in order to make people believe Vanko is dead was more or less murdered due to Hammer. And I'm pretty sure it's something Hammer at least gave the OK for.

It was pretty awesome I thought. Funny. :yay:

I am so happy to see all this love for Rockwell.

I've thought he was awesome ever since I saw The Green Mile back in '99. :D

It's a small funky dance number similar to the videos that are floaitng online of him.

Yeah true.
But personally i feel that OBadiah is ruthless whereas Hammer isn't.

I loved Rockwell in IM2. He seemed to be having a lot of fun and came off as quite a likeable, if a little sleazy, villain.

the hammer dance is THE best moment in the movie :woot:

Rockwell was great to watch, and while I agree that he was just misguided and ambitious in this movie as opposed to be being a fully fledged villain, the end set up his character to return as a villain with revenge on his mind.

I hope we see more of Rockwell as Hammer. I really do.

Aside from Robert Downey Jr, Sam Rockwell was the best thing in the film. I too hope we see more of him in future.

I still think James Woods would have been a better Justin Hammer but Rockwell was awesome. I swear, he should have it in his contract that he has to do a dance in every film he does.

btw has anyone seen this? Rockwell is a legend.

haha the bloke is ****ing nuts.

have you guys the batman and robin thing with him and justin long?

I still think that movie Hammer wasn't as clever or devious as comic Hammer. Whiplash manipulating the Hammer droids and WM seems more like the work of Hammer himself than Whiplash. Compare Iron Man #123-127 for example where he takes control of Iron Man's armour and uses him to kill that UN ambassador.

It isn't supposed to be a direct translation from the comics.

He's just called Justin Hammer, that's the only connection.

I'm fine with Rockwell, he's great and I love him in just about everything I see him in. As for comic Hammer, I always picture him like David Warner's Ed Dillenger character from Tron. Not as young as Stark, not quite as bright but very, very sneaky.

At least he was entertaining to see... and served a purpose...
