Iron Man 2 Sam Rockwell is Justin Hammer

any reason why hammer's palms were orange?

That was the first thing my girlfriend mentioned. It appears to be fake tan, which can be explained one of two ways:

1 - an editing oversight
2 - Hammer is so caught up with the image of being a rich guy with the name dropping, fancy cars, butler for the Vanko meeting, organic ice cream from Italy, flown in from somewhere els etc etc... that he keeps fake tanning.

average white band - pick up the pieces

i lock (type of dance) to this song all the time. and sam rockwell totally owned with his jig. and yes, i thought the dance was completely appropriate to the character.

thanks dude. i was trying to describe the dance to some of the guys at work earlier, not sure they got it, but it made me crack up in the movie. top stuff. wonder if he was conciously parodying some of his earlier work?

Just saw it... Rockwell is the ****ing man.

And yea the fake tan thing is obviously part of the character. Trying to keep up appearances, so to speak.

Exactly;

Hammer was portrayed like he's constantly striving to prove that he's more than just a poor-man's Tony Stark, so the fake tan, the clothes, the demonstrations of wealth makes prefect sense.

Incidentaly, finally saw Moon last night. It's downright criminal how that movie didnt get pushed.

I loved Hammer. Watching Stark and Hammer being self-loving *****ebags was just so much fun!

I LOVED his dance as he came out on stage at the Stark Expo. Blatantly improvised. Blatantly brilliant.

I thought it was unnecessary, but its ok.

On another note, do you guys think that Tony was unnecessarily cruel to him? He was constantly offending him even though Hammer was trying to be friendly.

Tony is a *****e bag. Hammer is a little wannabe twerp. And he also testified against him at the Senate hearing thing.

And i don't see how the dance was unnecassary. It fit his personality to do something like that when he finally got his chance in the spotlight. He's a show off.

I loved the "we kid, we kid, hes kidding" bit, loved Hammer all the way through this. Great character. Great performance by Rockwell.

It was over the top, wasnt it?

Hammer's personality is over the top. The fake tan, the fly suits, the ice cream flown in from Italy, the way he presented the guns to Rhodey etc. He wanted to make a big entrance. I loved it.

I guess it does makes sense for him.

Indeed the dance was downright awesome. He was so full of energy and he was so into it. It was truly his moment.

You can tell Hammer was being fake. Just keeping up appearances by acting nice. Tony would be fully aware of that.

And yeah, Tony is a *****e, but the kind of *****e we all love.

Maybe too much of a *****e. He was offending him all the time, even when Hammer was just trying to be friendly.

Not really. At no point was he actually trying to be friendly. Every friendly act was just keeping up pretenses. They're rivals, each hates the other and knows the other does too.

It looked to me like Hammer looked up at Tony and wanted to be pals with him, to enter the cool club, rather than destroy him. He only turned against Tony after he had dissed him numerous times.
I know they are business rivals, but Tony could have kept the pretenses and smiled through his teeth. Instead he was very very rude and arrogant.

It's pretty obvious, even if you hadn't read the books, that Hammer was just putting on a facade. You can tell right off when somebody is smiling in your face, and all the time they wanna take your place.

BACKSTABBAS! :awesome:

We're given the impression that there's history there; It's not inconceivable that Tony's a *****e to Hammer for a reason.

The fact that Hammer was trying to make his own Iron Men and selling them was enough if you ask me.

I had the fatest grin on my face when he came out and did that dance, it was classic rockwell. Rockwell's dance more than compensated for any of Hammer's short commings. The guy is a legend and one of the few white guys with actual rythm lol.

That Hammer was testifying against Stark already tells you that he's out to get him.

lol. The audience was impressed at how fast his feet were moving..

Rockwell as Hammer was awesome. He needs to come back for IM3.
