I think they should bring him back, he was a cool character with cool impact webbing and a cool costume, i loved the brotherly way Ben Riely interacted with Peter and i think Ben was prematurely killed off....Anyone agree?

Join the Official Fans of Reilly thread, where EVERYONE agrees.

I'll agree that he was killed prematurely. In fact, Ben Reilly--the Scarlet Spider--should have still been the one true Spider-Man, in my opinion. Thanks to the lovely hardcore Spider-Man fans it was changed and Ben Reilly had to be killed off to appease them.

I like when Ben was SM, that was cool.
The SS costume was lame tho.

Sorry, seeing as no one has said it yet, Reilly sucks, the CS sucked, and everything around it sucked.

I stopped reading comics in the 90's, and everything about BR and the CS was a catalyst for that decision

Peter Parker isn't Spider-Man?????? My dear Aunt fanny

The Clone Saga did not suck! However, the way that they changed everything around due fanboy whining does suck.

But hey, since this is all just opinions and conjectures, what the hell, in my opinion your comicbook tastes suck.

Therefore, I agree, that there are at least some things that do ahh...

suck!:whatever:

Nobody said it 'cause we're all fans of it. Besides, at least OUR Spider-Man didn't go unmaskin' himself in public!

EAT THAT!

And if Ben Reilly as Spidey is all it took fer ya to quit comics, then I feel so very sad fer you and th' rest who've thought that way.

Most people who ***** about the saga, didn't exactly read it. Sure they scanned a few issues, and checked out Spider-fan now and than, but mostly, they echo the extremely vocal negatives about the Saga like the entire thing was **** and made people stupider for reading it.

Lets be clear, the Other was ****, Sins Past was ****. The Clone Saga was a good plot stretched thin due to general greed. Marvel wanted more money, so an intresting concept, such as "What if the Peter Parker we all know actually was the Clone from a beloved Seventies arc" was made into 250 issues, when about six months worth would've done the trick(Hell Maximum Carnage got that much). Even so, the saga had a lot of high points, dismissing it all is simply myopic. Many characters were kept consistant, and in some places, even improved upon(MJ HAD SOMETHING TO DO!!!). Ben Reilly was an excellent character, simply a brighter take on Spider-Man, which is what people wanted, but closed their minds to the thought of him possibly replacing Peter. Funny because Reilly and Pete are in essence, the exact same person, and Parker and MJ would have made an excellent supporting cast anyway.

But w/e, you can't always get what you want right? I want to read about Ben telling stories to his baby neice, but apparantly unmasking, twins, stingers and a supporting cast of two, stay closer to the mytho's featuring the real Spider-man

I thought Revelations was a really fun and interesting ride.
That was prob my fav arc of the CS.

The clone saga did have it's problems and there are a number of decisions that shouldn't have been made for example:

-Ignoring mysteries without giving the reader some hint at what's going on. At the moment the spider-man skeleton in the smokestack, the baby disappearing, ect.

-The killing off of the Jackal shortly after he was re-introduced stronger than ever.

-The mix of good/bad writers+editors working on the clone saga all not knowing what the hell they were doing and trying to lay down tracks long after the train had passed leaving a lot of the storylines a scatterbrained mess.

However, overall the clone saga was an excellent idea that I didn't mind at all. After Revelations is when the storytelling really hit a wall creatively speaking. The characters became no longer interesting and became card board cut out caricatures of themselves. Nothing jumped out after that and I can't believe I actually bought a fair amount of issues until the beginning of the re-launch!

Anyway what would be interesting (and what wouldn't happen) would be for Marvel to take more risky concepts outside of "continuity" into a seperate medium or series of graphic novels.

I love Ben Reilly, but I think that it was some serious b.astardising trying to make him the real Peter Parker.

"cool costume"???

Uh...yeah...i guess. If by "cool" you mean red leotard and ripped sweat shirt, lol. :woot:

Didn't care for the saga. Didn't care for Ben Reilly. In the words of Joker:

"I'm glad you're dead!"

Only because yer boy got pwned.

So did yours. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust :D

Yeah, Ock's demise is just one of MANY reasons to dislike that saga.

Id still love to see Ben Reilly back, thought it was a good character on his own and not being pushed as the real Peter Parker.
I also loved both of his costumes so either of those returning aswell would make me happy.

hehe

Yeah, but our boy went out by a first-rate character formerly respected by all. Yers was taken out by a relative unknown. So stick that in yer aquarium and smoke it!

Ooooh I like this game.

Yeah, my guy was taken out by an unknown. One of many reasons why the Clone saga sucked. But my guy is alive and kicking again, because Marvel had the smarts to realize what they did was lame. Your guy is still dirt under the New Yorker's feet. Because Marvel are smart enough to know that is a wise thing to do.

:D

Now please, continue wishing for the return of your clones [no offence to the other clone fanboys who aren't acting like asses ;)]
