Most people who ***** about the saga, didn't exactly read it. Sure they scanned a few issues, and checked out Spider-fan now and than, but mostly, they echo the extremely vocal negatives about the Saga like the entire thing was **** and made people stupider for reading it.
Lets be clear, the Other was ****, Sins Past was ****. The Clone Saga was a good plot stretched thin due to general greed. Marvel wanted more money, so an intresting concept, such as "What if the Peter Parker we all know actually was the Clone from a beloved Seventies arc" was made into 250 issues, when about six months worth would've done the trick(Hell Maximum Carnage got that much). Even so, the saga had a lot of high points, dismissing it all is simply myopic. Many characters were kept consistant, and in some places, even improved upon(MJ HAD SOMETHING TO DO!!!). Ben Reilly was an excellent character, simply a brighter take on Spider-Man, which is what people wanted, but closed their minds to the thought of him possibly replacing Peter. Funny because Reilly and Pete are in essence, the exact same person, and Parker and MJ would have made an excellent supporting cast anyway.
But w/e, you can't always get what you want right? I want to read about Ben telling stories to his baby neice, but apparantly unmasking, twins, stingers and a supporting cast of two, stay closer to the mytho's featuring the real Spider-man
