Comics Scarlet Spider

Name calling? Psh, fine, forget you then. Havin' a nice friendly exchange and you gotta go and ruin it. Damn octopi.

Ock may have died in the Clone Saga, but that was the ONLY bad part of that particular four-issue arc... one in which he cured and saved the life of his mortal enemy, hung out with an Amazonian blonde in tight leather who was all over him like a rash, AND -- at least for the issues Bagley penciled -- was a damn stud in that white Armani suit.

Oh, and me? I liked Reilly. AND the Scarlet Spider outfit. Hah.

I liked Ben Reilly, but it would be ridiculous to bring him back.
How are they going to bring back someone whom we saw distentegrate?
I'm also extremely glad they kept peter parker as spider-man. Ben reilly was cool, but you can't beat ol' peter parker.

*sigh* Clones don't disintegrate fer th' millionth time. That's a continuity loophole that can be exploited.

I liked Rielly. Liked him as SS, and liked him as Spidey. I LOVED his "Spidey" costume, it really brought and update to the costume when it was needed. Marvel should have stayed with his version of the red and blue.

hey isnt that new girl jumping around in a red spider costume in USM's clone saga thats running now the ultimate version of scarlet spider? havnt seen anything on it, so i thought id ask here.

Ooooh I like this game.

Yeah, my guy was taken out by an unknown. One of many reasons why the Clone saga sucked. But my guy is alive and kicking again, because Marvel had the smarts to realize what they did was lame. Your guy is still dirt under the New Yorker's feet. Because Marvel are smart enough to know that is a wise thing to do.

:D

Now please, continue wishing for the return of your clones [no offence to the other clone fanboys who aren't acting like asses ;)]

Ah, but one could point out that it's probably better for Ben Reilly to be dead right now, considering that makes him less available to be messed around with by Marvel than Doctor Octopus - who thankfully, has only really suffered a bizarre costume makeover. Unfortunately, one could also point out that the dead aren't necessarily safe (Gwen Stacey...Uncle Ben...).

But still, Ock is still in an easier position to be "taken into new directions", namely downward. Ben Reilly's status as a dead guy that Marvel has tried to forget makes him less prone to it. So, with that said, you'd better keep praying that Marvel doesn't decide to make Ock their new "favourite", while Reilly remains relative safe in the ground. :oldrazz::cwink:

True. But that can be said for any of the current characters. They're all fair game with Joe Q and Co at the helm.

But Marvel already have their villain to recieve the crappy stories: Green Goblin. Norman is a joke these days. He's descending into Venom's low grade status rapidly. In fact, alot of people think he's already there. And wish he never came back.

Just another mistake from the Clone Saga.

As are all the other Spidey characters. Spidey's already at rock bottom right now. Lower than he's ever been.

Today's stories make you yearn for the days of Mackie.

Ben Reilly's status as a dead guy that Marvel has tried to forget makes him less prone to it.

And long may he stay dead. There's nothing to be gained by bringing him back. Spidey is supposed to be moving forward, not dragging up mistakes from the past.

Thanks, but I don't need to pray. As I said, Marvel already have their villain whipping boy favourite. And they're welcome to him :cwink:

Norman and Venom (gotta get that movie tie-in) are getting the lion's share of attention these days (or will) so, yeah, I think Ock's safe for the moment. He actually made off pretty well during his bit in the spotlight when SM 2 came out. One truly crappy makeover that was later shuffled back into the closet (thank god), one horrible mini (Out of Reach) out of three total (and the other two, Negative Exposure and Year One were spiff). The man's doing just fine.

As for Ben, his death was so abrupt and cheap that I'm actually quite open-minded about his possible return... or at least it'll be nice to see him referred to in a significant way. :cwink:

That one we refuse to take the blame over. Norman only came back because Marvel needed a back door to appease you guys

We?? You act as though you and the other clone fans wrote the Clone Saga or something Kaine :cwink:

Norman came back because the Clone Saga became so messy that Marvel came up with a quick fix. Would Norman be back now if the Clone Saga had never been done??

Probably not IMO. There's nobody to blame for any of it except Marvel. They wrote the story.

Yeah, but you fanboys *****ed and whined. Tell me, did they send a basket of cheese with it?

why is it that Captain America, Superman, Magneto, Prof. X, Jean Grey, and Thor (of all people) can have clones and no one seems to get mad but Spider-man has one (or 50) and people get their undies in a bunch?

And Spidey had the coolest one too!!

From what I get, not too many people like the Thor clone, but the reason so many people dislike Reilly is because he was "replacing" Peter when they said he was the original and Pete was the clone. A lot of people didn't like that too much. I enjoyed it myself, he was an entirely different character and opened the door to a lot of potential.
