Sci Fi Channel has a new name...

All these channels have become the same thing. You click on MTV, reality shows. Spike TV, reality shows. G4, reality shows...from Japan and Austrailia. There are no more niche channels. Even the.....soap opera network SoapNet now has a primetime comedy/drama about a 30 something woman who goes to a shrink that magically can transport her to her earlier years.

And you know this last part how?!

I'm sure they'll air it sometime. Unlike Fox, Sci Fi actually airs what they shoot almost every time. I can't think of any instance where they've just left finished episodes of shows on the shelf.

Of course that doesn't mean they won't air them out of order and mangle the whole thing. Recall what they did to The Dresden Files.

Will this new name stop them from creating crappy cgi movies?

So long as they don't ditch Sci-Fi Animonday Nights, I'm straight. I needs my Gurren Lagann.

Thys ys rydyculous, not to mentyon poyntless. What are they thynking of?

That's because reality TV shows cost next to nothing to produce and our vapid, intellectually void society watches them in greater numbers than they watch scripted shows. Lower cost + greater viewership = no-brainer.

Personally, I don't mind this turn to reality shows so much anymore. I've made my peace and decided to enjoy what few good scripted shows are left while reality TV rots everyone else's brains until they finally reach the tipping point--that last new reality show about some moronic celebrity's dog or about the meaningless life of some vacuous sex object masquerading as an 'actress' that finally makes even the lowest two members of the lowest common denominator look at each other and go "really?"--and the glorious anti-reality backlash begins.

You know they're bringing The Osbornes back to Fox.

I just turned on to sci-fi or scyfy whatever and they have Leprechan 3. I can't believe there was a 1 & 2 .

This should get some ratings. Is that the one with the preview of some guy tonguing down a old woman? :oldrazz:

For all you BSG fans, have you heard that Ron Moore is doing a show for FOX, It's a sci-fi show. If FOX changes their mind, maybe scyfy should pick it up. It looks cool. It's called virtuality.

That's the one consolation I have in the whole reality TV epidemic... Mass stupidity always reaches a tipping point, and then people will see the error of their ways-- for a few years, at least. Sadly, people will always look for ways to exploit the stupid in order to make a profit with no investment, even if there are long spells where it's "unfashionable" (which was the case before the reality TV epidemic began.)

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the technology. We have the capability to build - SCRATCH!!!!! Yeah Right!!!

all they have on that channel besides BSG and Eureka ...is "craptacular scifi orginal movies". Once BSG goes bye bye..then what?

If they pull my anime..I'll be pissed

....and those movies get them some of their higher viewer counts....I know people that watch SciFi just for those movies....once BSG ends, all Ill have there is Eureka and that's not back until summer

The only good show Syfy is going to have is Stargate.

I'll probably end up watching Stargate: Universe, but I can't say I'm bursting with excitement for it. It's always a tricky proposition to start up a new arm of an existing franchise.

Isn't there another cable channel that carries sci-fi shows? One that's less known? Or maybe there used to be...maybe i'm thinking of one that no longer exists. heh

Just ask Joey Tribiani.:hehe:

The more I read about it...the more i'm actually looking forward to it. Sounds like a little more gate travel than Atlantis...and it's for sure going to be darker. Maybe not BSG depressing...but darker than the previous series.
