Ok...I think we've seen enough of what Sci-Fi deems "good"

Do we really need to count all the dismal failures that have been stamped with the Sci-Fi channel power's that be's approval to know that these guys really don't have a clue?

I think Flash Gordon was the last straw...that show was so horrible. It not only ripped out the heart and soul of the source material...but cheapened it almost to the point that it may as well have been done on a home camcorder.

Good shows get canceled in order to make room for the guys in charge that think they have the next hit show and end up losing both the one they canceled AND the new show.

Seriously...the only reason sci-fi channel survives is because people tune into the crappy monster movies some of the times (hey...i'm just as guilty as the rest of you) and the occasional great series. But the channel is NO WHERE near what it should be...this is the sci-fi channel...where's all the Star Trek re-run's? Where is the SCI-FI? where is the effort in putting together good shows, rather than spewing crap and hoping some of it sticks?

Am I the only one who feels like Sci-Fi channel is the gutter where most crap gets thrown in?

I agree. Most of their original programming is REAL GARBAGE.

I think they need to get back to re-running GOOD shows like Star Trek TNG and Dark Angel.

I think they should take some shows away from USA. They are owned by the same company. Maybe The 4400 should re-run on Sci-Fi. Maybe it should air TAKEN again.

It needs quality programs with GOOD production value and believable acting and effects. I am shocked at how bad the shows are on this channel.

SCI-FI uk is no different- here is our schedule- http://www.scifi.co.uk/whatson/home.asp

Look you have battlestar, stargate and doctor who so its not so bad
however i have no idea what the outer limits or painkiller jane is

Outer Limits was good. If you've never seen it, you should, although they are now all reruns.

Be glad you don't know what Paingiver Jane is.

I love how Sci-Fi has also become the place to air the pilot episodes of rejected TV Shows.

this should be my favorite channel but i havent watched it yet.

There are still "some" good shows on Sci-Fi....Eureka, BSG, the rare new ghosthunters episode. But yeah, Flash Gordon was a huge letdown. I knew it would be the second they said they weren't going to use the Queen theme...and then put the nail in the coffin when the Hawkmen don't even have wings. I mean.....WTF?!?!

i love the twilight zone, and the marathons are awesome, except when you have seen them all... but other than that, sci fi blows, with such great potential too.

Them bastards canceled the Dresden Files ! :cmad:

Not really, I think they survive by doing that daily marathon thing that they do. You know where one day they play Airwolf  all day long, the next day it's the Incredible Hulk , the next it's Quantum Leap  & so on.

And to answer the question, Should Execs be removed?

Yes. :cmad:

They should restart Sliders from the beginning with the "what if" premise again, instead of fighting interdimensional aliens.

They should also try to get Global Frequency from WB.

ECW is one of Sci-Fi's highest rated shows. That should really tell you something about it's current state.

It shows that Sci-Fi is in bad shape,i wonder how Ani-Monday is doing..i hope it's doing good.Besides that,i only watch the Twilight Zone.

It used to be a decent place to see old sci fi shows....but not anymore. Years ago, they threw in everything (Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Star Trek, Moonbase Three, Max Headroom.....) you were always getting something different.

Now they rerun the same few shows over and over. Sometimes the Saturday Night Monster movie is watchable.....mostly not though.

I don't know if any of you guys remember....but they used to actually have talk shows that discussed the latest in sci fi books, movies, and the like. Now we get wrestling.

When the Sci-Fi channel first came out, my cable company hated me because I would constantly call every day and telling them to pick up the Sci-Fi channel.

Now I'm calling them up and am close to begging them to drop it

i would love to much some of those old shows again. Man I don't even watch sci fi anymore expect for doctor who which will end in 2 weeks then im pretty much done with it till they get a new show.

What! Where is the love for BEASTMASTER??? Come on, guys.

Scifi sucks. They cancelled SG1 but not Craplantis.

I remember when they would show the Planet Of The Apes Tv series and the live action Spider-man series.

they used to air thre flash, six million dollar man,the original bionic woman, wonder woman, robocop the series, hercules and xena they shoud start airing these again and fire the execs who canned them

Well, if Flash continues to show the same ratings Painkiller Jane got before it got canned, it WILL it canned, as well.

Eureka and ECW are doing good for Sci-Fi. Atlantis is up there, but not next to Eureka in terms of ratings.

I saw part of Flash last night...good lord, hello 1996 CGI. (The effects for some building shots)

none of you mentioned Farscape, that show was amazing... they cancelled it :(

But they at least let it go longer than one season....and gave it an ending.

What were the ratings like on the Firefly marathons? That would be something they should try to get from Fox.

I posted this in the Star Trek thread....but it helps illustrate the way the Sci-Fi channel has changed doing things too....so thought it should go in here too.

About 8 years or so ago...the Sci Fi channel showed all of the original Star Trek episodes uncut (for those that don't know.....older TV shows ran longer than the newer ones....so several minutes were cut from all original episoides to fit in the amount of commercials that are allowed today) William Shatner introduced and and gave a post script for every episode, and they taped interviews with the main actors, guest stars, and people behind the scenes intersperced throughout the airings. They did this by putting each episode into an hour and a half time slot.

I taped them all back then. I recently dug them out, and I'm in the process of transferring them to DVD (cutting out the commercials, but putting the interviews for each episode at the end).....I love the fact that back then, they didn't screw up the screen with telling you what will be on next or later that night or make it so that you can't read the end credits by smashing them down to put those coming up next ads......ahhh, the good old days.

They showed the episode "The Cage" (what was later cut up and made into the two part episode "the Menagerie") with extra scenes cut from the 2-parter. They had used different voices for the Talosian in the original "Cage" than they did in the "Menagerie"....so in the uncut version it sometimes changes back and forth.

I remember buying brand new VHS tapes at that time to record these....and the quality of the picture after all these years is still good. They're making good DVDs.....:woot:

I remember their animation block in the mornings, Sci-Fi needs to bring it back.

I loved the show Jake 2.0

I watched all the reruns they showed, some that were aired for the first time. The show didn't get a chance to be all that it could be. One of the last episodes had him on Iron Man/Extremis levels.
