Scrubs: Season 8 on a new network

I havent watched anything of the final season due to work an a lack of DVR. Ive heard the last seasons been pretty bad. Is it true that its been bad?

This season has been good. It started getting better last season. Season 6 was just terrible.

I've been watching old episodes. My Lunch, despite it being a pretty emotionally heavy episode, was good. It became preachy in My Fallen Idol were Cox became a depressed alcoholic who couldn't be cured by anyone except JD. I don't have a problem with him losing it since something big like that (4 patients die unnecessarily) would make someone lose it; I just didn't like how it was only JD, and more what he said (that he's proud that Cox took it that hard and how he wants to be that kind of doctor), that made Cox come out of it.

Season 6 was way too preachy. The worst episode of that season was His Story IV which is unfortunate because a Kelso-perspective episode would have been really good (although they kind of did one in Season 5, My Jiggly Ball). The only good thing about seasons 5 through 7 have been that Janitor has been able to have more interaction with characters. Even though they dropped the "imaginary" thing during season 1, he never interacted with anyone else until late season 2.

Actually I have to defend both of those episodes. I love what JD says to Cox in My Fallen Hero. It just defines their relationship. Cox being his mentor and yeah Cox claims to hate JD, but we all know he doesnt really. I also really like His Story IV. It gave us insight into Kelso and how he has to be the bad guy.

I didn't like it that it was only JD (Cox does love him but Carla is his closest friend and Jordan is his "wife"). What JD said to him just felt weak. I am being nitpicky though. It was alright despite being overly preachy. After that episode is when they tried to give some deep, emotional lesson in every episode.

My Jiggily Ball did a much better job at that (that's when Kelso kicks Cox's patient out of a drug trial who dies. The patient he put in his place donates money to reopen the pre-natal trailer). The Kelso parts of His Story IV were good, but the whole political debate was awful. Also, Kelso had degenerated into a goofy old man that season. He was still an evil jerk in season 5 which made it work better.

Further proof that this is probably the last season of Scrubs: Bill Lawrence has tapped his real-life wife, Christa Miller, to join the cast of his ABC comedy pilot, Cougar Town. Miller will play Courteney Cox's BFF. Also coming to Town are Aliens in America's Dan Byrd (as Cox's son) and Busy Phillips (as Cox's other BFF.)

Nine episodes left in the season over eight weeks starting March 18.

Scrubs has had emotionally heavy episodes since season one.
My Lunch is my favorite episode of the series, hands down. Overall season 5 is pretty weak, but that episode is fantastic.

The series definitely had moments in seasons 5-7.
My way home, My lunch, My Musical, and My long goodbye are fantastic moments in the series.

We miss you, Laverne. :csad:

Speaking of which, why do we never see Nurse Shirley anymore?

That is true. But seasons 5 through 6 seemed to really focus on preaching some life lesson. Before then, it was more subtle.

My Monster is my favorite episode solely because of the intense makeout session between JD and Elliot. Zach Braff is one lucky man :o

I don't remember My Way Home. I hate musicals but My Musical was pretty good. My Long Goodbye was also very good.

Scrubs will end for the season — and possibly for good — with an hour-long episode in May.

ABC has scheduled the episode, fittingly titled “My Finale,” for Tuesday, May 6. Series creator Bill Lawrence has said the finale will deal with J.D. (Zach Braff) deciding to leave Sacred Heart Hospital and take a job closer to his son.

When ABC picked up the show from NBC last spring, Lawrence and Braff both said this season, the show’s eighth, would be their last. There has been some talk that Scrubs might continue without them, but modest ratings since its January premiere — back-to-back episodes on Tuesdays have averaged only about 5.1 million viewers — have dampened that talk some.

Lawrence is staying in the ABC fold, however, writing and executive producing a pilot called Cougar Town for Courtney Cox, who guested on Scrubs at the start of the season.

Scrubs moves to 8 p.m. ET Wednesdays starting March 18, where it will be paired with new comedy Better Off Ted.

"J.D. deciding to leave Sacred Heart Hospital and take a job closer to his son."

Seems like he and Elliot will break up. I don't really like how this ending sounds but we'll see.

I said that when this season started....JD and Elliott will NOT end the show as a couple...

They've made it pretty clear in the series that Elliot can work for her practice from any hospital. Why is it that she wouldn't be willing to move with JD? Other than Turk and Carla there'd be nothing holding her to Sacred Heart...

I don't think they'd go through all nonsense of giving JD and Elliot a mature successful relationship to end it in the last episode.

I don't want to see JD and Elliot break up again. For some time now, they've been trying to show how JD has matured and changed. I really don't need to see him self-sabotage yet another relationship.

It would fit with the show I think.....I figured JD started the show alone, he should end it alone....it's called symmetry....I don't get why people are so hung up on that one part of the show

Would Friends have been appropriate to end the show with Ross and Rachael not together (I don't even like Friends, maybe you do?)

Never got into 'Friends' so I don't care....what soured me on Elliott and JD is when Elliott was living in her truck, she stays at JDs, they bang and minutes later Sean shows up and she jumps into his arms and takes off....leaving JD in the lurch....she's been just as immature as JD has....

That's the whole point, they were never right for each other at all those other times because they couldn't overcome those personality defects.

You're combining their season 2 and 3 hook-ups.

Season 2 she was homeless and crashed with him. Then they screwed b/c his "peep was on the fritz". Season 3 she did him and then went back to Sean seconds after.

in any case....them being together does not work in the long term

Doesn't mean they can't work together now seeing how it's been 5 years since they last hooked up and are very different people from then.

didnt bill lawrence already say that jd and elliot are together, period, and they arent gonna get into the drama with it bc they are matured and love eachother? or am i imagining ****?

i for one think they should be together, since the pilot JD has seen something special in elliot.

Right. But the show isn't just about JD growing up over 8 years. It's about all of the characters growing. Elliot has matured as much as he has.

Ive seen the most mature of people act like ****tards when they are in a relationship....being mature and being mature in a relationship are two entirely different things
