The Official 24 Day 8 Thread! (spoilers)

It was really stupid that they brought Tony back. Also, why the hell was Logan still alive at the end of season 8? Or at least he was being treated.

How so? Bringing Tony back made Season 7 much more tragic, intense, and personal in my opinion.

As for Logan it leaves it open for him to possibly return. There have been people who have survived suicide attempts similar to his so it wouldn't be that far fetched honestly.

Remember the Secret Service agent told Taylor he could survive, however, he'll most likely have some severe brain damage.

Almost finished with Season 5. I can honestly say Season 5 doesn't have one bad episode in my opinion. All of them are just as intense, engaging, and unpredictable even if you've already watched it.

I have to say Season 5 is a masterpiece. It is, without a doubt, the best 24 season in terms of the quality, writing, suspense, unpredictability, and excitement. Everything about it is perfect in my opinion and after rewatching it again I'd say it's my top favorite season.

So I'd say

1. Season 5/Season 7(tie)
2. Season 4
3. Season 8
4. Season 1
5. Season 3
6. Season 6

Of course all of this is strictly in my opinion.

I'm curious as to if anyone knows the answer to this. Are they going to do a 24 film that's released in theatres or are they going to do something similar to Redemption?

My co-worker and I were discussing the possibilities regarding the 24 film and I'm assuming they'll do away with the real time format?

If they decide to go ahead with it, yes, they're going to release it in theatres. They were originally talking about releasing a movie in the theatres back in Season 5/6, but they decided to hold off and that later turned into Redemption.

I'm on Season 6 now and I've thought about just watching a few episodes and just skipping to Redemption and then Season 7. Season 6 while it's a good season it's the weakest one and I can see how people lose interest in it.

Starts off strong, gets great when he has to kill Curtis, climaxes that moment with the nuclear bomb exploding, and just seems to lose steam after the detonating of the device, and gets pretty cool and scary when Jack tortures his brother.

Overall I think Season 6 could've and would've been better if they utilized Jack's unstable mind after being in China.

So I know that I am months late, but I just finished watching season 8 on my DVR. Thought the season was pretty damned good. Maybe it's because I'm going through a bunch of emotional crap in my own personal life right now, but I teared up at the ending. I was sad to see that with Jack, all season long I just wanted to see him go home with Renee Walker, start a life with her, and have a life with his daughter.

I watched all the seasons over the summer again and since I recorded Season 8 on different VHS tapes I will wait for the DVD.

Has anyone heard any news regarding the film? Things have been pretty quiet and normally there would be something said. Like some pictures, confirmed storyline, or some characters? Something has to be said because I find it to be unusually quiet since Kiefer and the producers were/are so gung-ho about the movie.

Probably got notes from the studio, re-writes.

It would still be in development either way. Might be for awhile. Sometime in 2012 would probably be the first realistic release date.

I wonder if we will get our first piece of news when the Season 8 DVD is released?

Things that I want to see in the 24 film

Jack in the Army of Two armor again if he infiltrates a Russian fortress of some type.
The return of Tony
Aaron Pierce
Mike Novick
Mandy(Possibly have the Russians hire her/breaking her out of her immunity agreement to hunt down Jack)
Cole

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. I rewatched the episode where Jack is going all kinds of badass while hunting down Logan, and that for me, in my opinion is the best moment of 24 ever. I just get this Splinter Cell/Bourne like feel when Jack is in the tunnel and is slaughtering everything in his path.

Mike or Cole aren't really necessary to me. No real reason to bring them back. Mandy would be a nifty Easter egg though.

Resolution between Jack/Audrey and Tony would be the most important things for me. Throw some Kim in there too.

Better to have them not rush it so they can polish up the script and what not. We don't need another X Files: IWTB on our hands.

I can't believe I forgot about Audrey. That would be a nice addition to the film as well.

@Sam Fisher- I definitely don't want another X-Files: IWTB. But it just would be nice to get a little piece of news. However I understand that writing the script takes time, plus with the rewrites, and Kiefer wanting to make sure it's done right is a good thing too. I was just hoping we'd get a something that lets us know that they're working on it, a release date or whether it'll be a theatrical or DVD release.

If they bring any of the old characters back I hope it's a surprise and they don't spoil anything.

Does 24 have an official website? Other than the Facebook page that I have I can't seem to find any sites with official information.

Probably not anything that will be updated any faster than Facebook. FOX took it off of their main website.

I really wish there was another "day" season. It would help round out the 24 trilogy but here is how I view the series...

Trilogy
Part I: Sacrifice
~Consisting of Jack sacrificing himself for everything; his wife, his relationship with his Kim, for America's greater good, etc... This also contains the whole Nina "****" Meyers arc. Also, The whole storyline of President David Palmer's inauguration and stay in office.
- Day 1
- Day 2
- Day 3

Part II: Judgment
~Jack looses his soul as a father and agent. Everyone who Jack meets or cares for ends up dying. This also contains the fall of America, because Wayne Palmer was overturned as a President (wasn't even half the man of his brother). Plus, Logan totally pissed all over America as a country by pulling what he did. CTU constantly failed, a lot of moles, and dumb **** that resulted in CTU being destroyed.
- Day 4
- Day 5
- Day 6

Part III: Redemption
This final part was very much based on redemption, for not only with Jack for his daughter Kim but for America as a whole such with President Taylor trying her best to redeem the Presidency post President Logan and many other 24 characters such as Tony, even though it wasn't legal he did get redemption for Michelle. Even CTU has returned, even though they haven't done so well this year, haha...
- 24: Redemption (TV Movie)
- Day 7
- Day 8
- 24: Jack Bauer (Cinema Movie)

I was thinking about selling off my old DVD sets and buying that, but there is no way I'm paying $300 for that, especally since it doesn't liook like they're including any extra swag other the bonus disc.

Keep an eye on Amazon.com and retailers like Target, Best Buy and Walmart. They'll have weekly or daily sales in November/December and a lot of Complete Series sets go for $100 or less. I got The Shield Complete Series for $90 or some really low price last year at Target. It had just come out. Now it probably has 1/3 of the episodes that 24 had but there could be a good price for $200 or less this year and following years.

Tony seems like a must for a 24 film.

I'm still surprised he wasn't a part, even in a cameo appearance, for Day 8.

Ah damn it, I want that now too. :csad:

Is that really going to be $300?

Tony and Audrey are a must for the 24 film. Some people even suggested that possibly having Renee not be dead and having her fake her death in order to destroy the Russians completely.

However, her being dead really created an amazing rogue Jack Bauer and that's something we need to see more of in a film. I just hope they really explore the concept of Jack being a destructive force of nature like they did in Season 8.

They totally should've had another season just to complete the journey of Jack.

Kiefer did say that he does want them to kill off Jack at some point though.

Just finished my third viewing of Season 8 and I feel it gets better with repeated viewings.
