Scrubs: Season 8 on a new network

I actually really like the new Scrubs. I think they have some kinks to work out, but I enjoyed the first two episodes. I actually like Lucy and I'll be interested to see where her character goes

The only new character I like is Drew. A former med student who comes back to get back on top of things. From what I've seen, he should've been the POV character.

Lucy is, as others have said, JD 2.0. The creators are playing it very safe by not having a truly new main character, which to me is a big problem. And her voice-over work is awful. I'm with a few other people in saying that she is trying way to hard to fill Braff's shoes. It's not working for me.

I enjoyed these first two episodes, but outside of Drew's interractions with Dr. Cox, all the laughs came from the old cast. Once they're gone, I don't see this going well. But well just have to find out.

I actually quite liked the new episodes. The cast's gonna take a little getting used to, but I thought they did a fairly good job.

I loved the new episodes. I laughed so much at these first two episodes. I also viewed this as a spin-off cause it pretty much is, they just didn't want to change the name of the show. Well ABC did, Bill Lawrence didn't. It kinda of sucks that JD and Elliot wedding was glossed over, but its been a year since the season 8 finale. Loved the response of The Janitor when he found out JD was not coming back to Sacred Heart. (We know where he went to, he returned to his homestate of Indiana and his loving wife and 3 kids. Reference to "The Middle" if you don't know.)

One thing I really didn't like was the new version of the theme song. It sounded like it had been rerecorded with a different singer as well.

Its funny I read on Ask Ausiello that the reason Carla is gone is because Judy Reyes only wanted to return full-time, but Lawrence couldn't work out why a nurse would be hanging around Med Students, yet you saw nurses in the background at the new place. Hmm interesting.

There's too much hate here! I guess change is something that takes time for people to accept. The original cast still has it. Denise is still awesome. Drew is funny. So, I don't see what there's to complain about. Lucy? She's very sweet. Can she be annoying? Well, its only been two episodes. Go back to the first two episodes of Scrubs. The character of J.D. was a deer caught on a headlight. He didn't become the goofy character we all know and love till mid-season. So, give it time. This season is only 13 episodes. By the time Zach Braff leaves, the season will be half-way over.

Actually 13 episodes are just the front order. If the ratings are good it could get a another 8 to 10 episode back order.

And while JD was nervous, he was never annoying. Braff's acting elevated it beyond that. Made the character, even with his insecurities instantly endearing. Bishe cannot say the same with the Lucy character. She is just horrible.

And it has little to do with change. Even the cast is off in these episodes. They are trying too hard. I blame the writing for that one.

The Janitor's send-off was one of my favorite moments.

Really? That's a dumb reason. Especially since it's Carla. No one would care if she was hanging around.

Probably the same place JD went as they are exactly the same character. An insecure fairly average young doctor (oops, med student, what a difference!) who desperately seeks the approval of the older doctors and while she may not be the best doctor, she is set apart by caring about her patients more than anyone which will eventually endear her to others and help her rise through the ranks.

Yeah, its odd. The new Sacred Heart is clearly still a hospital, they just added on a medical school, so why wouldn't a nurse be there?

I really wanted to like this new Scrubs, but I just couldn't. The new cast is aweful, especially Lucy. They seemed to try too hard and it came out flat. At times it felt like I was watching a parody of Scrubs. The only times I laughed was with the old cast, especially JD. I hope they can find a way to make it work, because I don't see it getting picked up for a full season.

So Judy Reyes couldn't return because of story line reasons? I thought that whole reason this piece of sh** was even done was because the creator didn't want to put people out of work?

I smell something, & it ain't roses.

they made her pregnant again last year for a reason....2 kids and Turks is teaching now...she's not going to be back

She should have been mentioned or appeared in at least 1 episode.

so Neil Flynn didn't film any more scenes for scrubs? That little 5 second cameo was it? that blows.

Really? I thought it was the perfect send off for the Janitor and was the one part they got right.

Yeah. I like how he just quit after he found out JD was never coming back.

His whole thing was Messing with JD and once he found out he was not there anymore. He felt he didn't have anything else to do.

Well I don't think that it is a big problem, especially when Lucy hasnt really proven to be able to take the torch from JD yet. I know JD wasn't JD until mid-first season, but he was still much funnier than Lucy was in the first episodes and I realized why. JD had Turk to help bring out the goofiness. Lucy's need a Turk-like friend for her because I don't think Turk himself can do the same for her.

I just hope that Braff leaves, they'll be able to fill in the voids of JD, Elliot, Janitor, Jordan, Carla, and Ted. The show's in need of more supporting characters. The Security guards can be funny.

I liked last night episodes, and I see potential. But I hope they can continue to flesh out the med student characters which I think they will. They also need to non students/doctors to also be relevant like Scrubs was in the past. Once again, no Janitor, no Ted, nor Carla. I'm still so glad they kept the Todd.

Yeah, the Janitor's last scene was pretty perfect.

The Security guards can be funny.

Wait? Seriously? A fat black guy cliche and a red neck cliche? Seriously? They are like rejects from Paul Blart. For saying they are funny I hereby I ban you from this thread. Should you return you shall be punished with a banning from the Hype. Go along now. :cmad:

They lost three writers/producers; Bill Callahan went to Psych and probably the biggest hit is Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan going to Community (which has been great). Plus Bill Lawerence is stretched with Cougar Town. And the show only really came about because Donald Faison's ABC comedy and John C. McGinley's CBS drama weren't picked up.

9:00 NBC The Biggest Loser 3.6 9 9.698
CBS NCIS (repeat) 2.4 6 12.872
FOX So You Think You Can Dance 2.3 6 5.839
ABC Scrubs 2.0 5 4.627
CW Melrose Place 0.7 2 1.457

9:30 NBC The Biggest Loser 3.6 9 9.708
CBS Two And A Half Men (repeat) 2.7 7 13.498
FOX So You Think You Can Dance 2.2 6 5.808
ABC Scrubs 2.0 5 4.458
CW Melrose Place 0.7 2 1.387

The last half of the season will have to deal with American Idol, look like its just a sacrifice and I doubt it will get any additional episodes. Some moments were okay like the Janitor's exit (wouldn't he try to get a job where JD was working?) I'm kinda getting tired of Cox and JD, he was just annoying at parts.
