Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El, cousin of Superman, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 12 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them.
What did you think of the first episode?

Watched the pilot when it leaked. Watching again now. Forgot how absolutely terrible Calista Flockhart is.

It does feel like a CW show.

That it does, but thankfully more Flash than Arrow so far. I can deal with that.

I agree Calista Flockhart is the weak link so far.

A cross between the Christopher Reeve movies and Man of Steel. I like that they went right into the Supergirl. They set up Kara's relationships with others. Glad it's on CBS and not CW because of the budget. I think it's best for Supergirl to be on her own and not crossover with Arrow, Flash, and DC Legends.

I have a feeling that male coworker character is going to get on my nerves too.

Not gonna lie, I'd be all for some sort of multiverse-induced crossover. But it would be hard to explain Superman's lack of involvement in something so huge.

Might as well use multiverse where Supergirl would be Earth-Prime!!

I really liked it and thought it was better than the Flash pilot. I'm sure it will improve and grow on people like Flash did. Melissa Benoist is awesome and the cgi was very good!

Bring on episode 2.

I think I said it in the other thread, but I like it so far. There are things that bother me, but they bother me less than they did in the trailers. Lots of excitement and I'm looking forward to next week.

One complaint I have that I blame more on the directing than on Melissa Benoist. It seemed every time she used her powers, it was with the exact same expression - a sort of hopeful triumph like the Little Engine that Could. She's never acting gracefully or in command. Granted, that's part of the point (she's figuring out how she could do it), but it was literally the same expression every time. I hope as she goes on, that gets toned down because she's better at what she does.

So, was this changed from the leak?

Mostly better sound, a couple of things were cut from the leaked version, but nothing important probably just to get it at the 43-45 minute length, it was 46 minutes.

The biggest change (and it was an excellent change, extremely happy) was the scene between Alex and Kara at the DEO when Kara is walking out. That IMO was kind of weak in the pilot. They went with a MUCH STRONGER take and this take showed the actress that Melissa is...I was very happy with that change, you could see and feel that she was hurt that was an important scene and the change was good.

Other than that, no, it was pretty much the leaked version.

Now that it has finally aired, the scary part comes tomorrow morning. Ratings.

It was good. It had some issues, but they were issues that quite a few pilots tend to have. I kind of think that this should have been a two-part premiere actually, to give more time for the set-up.

It will be a couple of days to get full on ratings...they will look at the trending etc. I also think they will look much more at Episode 2 and 3 than the pilot as far as ratings.

I have a feeling this little series is going to do just fine...:cwink: If that preview trailer for the rest of the season is any indication. HOLY CRAP!!!!! wow...

Have you seen the Season 1 Preview Trailer?

I expect the pilot ratings to be good. We'll see what the ratings settle in at after a few episodes.

That has been the biggest complaint since the pilot leaked...

I wish the pilot was two hours.

Now I wouldn't mind having my ass kicked by Supergirl. Would have loved to see her do press slams on the villains.

Not significantly. I think they used a few alternate takes and polished up the music/fx, but other than that, it seemed the same to me.

Alright, thank you. :yay:

Only differences I noticed between the broadcast version and the leaked version was the music, some editing during the plane rescue, and the sister talk mentioned above.

By the way, my daughter and I are hooked. We'll do our best to watch every week.

I know there's always a tendency to compare Supergirl with her cousin, but how would you compare this with Smallville's pilot?
