I'm still traumatised by that ending. The foreshadowing was heavy, but I still couldn't quite believe Marvel would go this far, this dark... and create a genuine sense of "no one is safe." Devastating. As powerful as the ending scene was, there was other strong stuff here too. I've talked in the previous two episodes about the pace slowing right down since the blow-out of episode 9, but with this episode I'm recognising this isn't simply a case of taking a "breather." Rather, it feels more like us entering the endgame, and the writers making a conscious decision that the characters getting emotional pay-off is of greater priority than the action ramping up - bold for a superhero show, but I think it's a decision that's paid off. As in this episode more than any other, I recognised that we've been on a journey with these characters, watched them change and grow: some growing together, others apart. Fisk's final scene with Wesley was disarmingly moving, and there was lots of emotion drawn from how Matt, Foggy and Karen are being torn apart. And Vondie Curtis-Hall, man... he's been superb as Ben Urich, bringing a real quiet strength and decency to the role. Not that we were devoid of action, as the Chinese drug-production thread of the crime story came to an explosive head here in a way which seems to foreshadow the upcoming IRON FIST series. Bring on the finale!
