Winn's back, baby!

JEREMY JORDAN RETURNS; DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTS – As Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) tries to thwart a Toyman copycat, Winn Schott (guest star Jeremy Jordan) returns from the future. David Harewood directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Katie Rose Rogers (#511). Original airdate 1/26/2020.

I wonder if the Winn who returns from the future will be altered by the Crisis. Brainiac 5 should be altered by the Crisis as well.

I mean, something is clearly up...

Promo photos are out....yikes at Winns LoSH outfit...

If all they are going to do is use COIE as an excuse to dump a bunch of doppelgangers on us....I'm going to be so annoyed. This should've been happening pre-COIE, not post.

Both before and during Crisis. Probably their way of saying they’re sorry for coming into the Crisis late. Same with Batwoman.

No Superman action figures? they should've thrown some in of all the various heroes, would've been cool.

But how is that Winn? You are on a new Earth....and did Winns ship just go from REALLY small to REALLY big? Wow Winns mask is....not one of my favorites.

Is Brainy not interested in hearing about his friends back at home?

The "Tower" is very dingy. And I like how J'onns main role is now to tell people about Crisis.

Ugh...ANOTHER doppelganger!

It is nice when old team members and new team members meet and get a moment together.

Not real sure why Kara doesnt just punch the tigers....unless they have kryptonite teeth, they cant exactly do much harm to her.

The multiverse problem continues as this episode is significant in several ways - the return of Winn Schott and marking his first time working with Nia, who learns about her legacy.

Last week Jesse played multiple versions of himself and this week is Jeremy Jordan as they made up to him for not appearing last season.

Also the debut of the tower. Why not call it the Watchtower?

Lex Luthor owning the DEO has gotten more interesting as has post-Crisis Supergirl. I hope Lex will be like this when Superman and Lois debuts.

Great episode overall.

Ugh, can't believe they're really trying it with Kara/William. I honestly thought they'd learned from the Mon-El debacle, and were serious with the whole "he's not a love interest!" approach, but obviously not. The LAST thing this show needed this season was more crappy attempts at romance. Like, it's one thing to do it with the side characters in subplots that don't take up more than 5 minutes of screentime, but previous attempts with the central character just drag the show down...hard. Just when this season was showing some renewed potential Post-Crisis, too. Bummer.

Was Mon-El wiped from existence? The total lack of mention about him is quite odd.

I think it’s about time she’s had a love interest. She hasn’t had much of a personal life since Mon-El. I know CW is always about shoving a new love interest every couple of episodes for all their shows so I really commend their restraint with Supergirl.

Really just a great episode. The Tower set looks great, Jon Cryer really brought it this episode and the action scenes were well done. I think the William/Kara stuff felt a little forced only because of Kara constantly saying "Will? Where's Will?" obviously setting up she cares about him.

It was great to have Winn back and one of the better episodes of the season so far, all things considered.

After sleeping on it I have mixed feelings. Past attempts at love interests for Kara have been a mixed bag, I didn’t hate Mon-El, but at the same time I’m thinking the male heroes have got their romantic loves so why shouldn’t Kara. I’m going to give Queller and Rovner a chance remember they weren’t in charge during season two. Season three they were co-showrunners with AK before he was fired. Season three was the year we had that loooooog break due to “production issues” Many of us speculated that they were scrambling to do rewrites and reshoots to minimize AKs influence. There was only so much reshooting possible because the cast and crew couldn’t be kept much past the time allotted for production. Between seasons three and four was the summer Melissa did “Beautiful” so she wasn’t able to stay. Rewrites would’ve been easier but still a scramble. Jon Cryer deserves all the credit for bringing Lex to life but Queller and Rovner had the vision of this version of Lex. Jon’s said he wouldn’t have been his first choice for the part but when the showrunners explained what they wanted to do with the character he got it and was all in, he even broke a personal rule and took the part without seeing the script. IMO they’ve also done a better job with Kelly compared to Maggie, we’ve gotten to know her a bit outside her relationship with Alex. I also like Alex in her relationship with Kelly better, it’s more like Kelly is a big part of her life but the relationship doesn’t take over. My point is they’ve pulled off some things that could’ve failed.

I think they’re going to go the Clark and Lois rout, when she didn’t know. This could provide some comedic material for Melissa. It could be interesting to see Kara dating a human who doesn’t know she’s Supergirl. One of the issues with Mon-El was his powers were similar to Kara’s which made fight scenes with both of them a challenge. I’ve decided to keep an open mind and be hopeful.

I'll keep a wait and see attitude for the relationship with William. Who knows, it might fizzle, but as long as it's handled well it could end up being a plus. Look at Lois and Clark. That's a relationship done right. I'll admit I didn't want him to be 'the one' but I'll give it time. He has grown on me a little bit.
Now the question is, when will Kara tell him who she is..? Thanks to Lena she now has a very bad experience to draw from about keeping that to herself.

Seeing Winn back is great though! And I like his costume. No problem there.

For Brainy, I was hoping they would draw it out a bit more before someone found out that he is now basically a double-agent. Of course, Winn might be a pass though seeing how he will be going back to the future real quick.

I like the Tower. A bit too grunge at the moment though. Needs to be polished up, although that office at Catco with the unfinished walls did serve well enough for the time.

As for the attack with the tigers, one, c'mon, she could punch them out in a split second! That didn't need to be a whole multi-hero fight. And two, again with the stupid music video! Choose an instrumental number to fit the scene, but please stop fitting in songs to try and make it hip and fun!

So did J'onn just not get around to making symbols at The Tower for Black Lightning or Canary yet? I saw the S for the Kryptonians, Batwoman, Flash, himself, presumably Brainy and Dreamer, but not Jefferson or Sara.

That aside, good episode and nice to have Winn back in the fold for however long he's here. His conversation with Brainy towards the end when Brainy came clean about working with Lex was by and large my favorite moment of the episode.

This was a great episode, much better than last weeks. Loved
seeing Jeremy Jordan back, you could tell he had a ball playing both Wynn’s. I really do think the show misses him, this episode proved it.

I am really enjoying Brainy’s undercover arc. His interactions with Lex were great. But I couldn’t give a crap about his relationship with Nia Nal.

Lastly I’ll talk about how awesome the Tower is.

A solid 8/10.

Eh, I still don’t miss Winn at all and hope his return doesn’t become permanent.

The symbols are mostly for the Superfriends along with Flash and Batwoman. They represent Supergirl’s inner circle of friends. The last two symbols are Nia and Brainy.

Yeah, I got that- even pointed out. That's not my question. My question is why there aren't any symbols for Jefferson or Sara. I mean, if you want to talk inner circle, she's known Sara longer than either Jefferson or Kate- though Alex probably knows her better- so going off of just time known, Sara would have a symbol up there too. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, but if there are symbols for Batwoman, Flash, and Superman/Supergirl, why not the others?

It’s a bit odd that there would be two superhero headquarters: this Tower and the Hall of Justice/League thingie we saw at the end of Crisis. Now, the Tower might just be a sub-group for the Supergirl folks. But then, why include Flash and Batwoman? And if it’s a second headquarters for the bigger group, why not (as you say) include BL and Sara?

There's no indication that Jeremy wants to come back full time. He's selling out Carnegie Hall and I believe doing another Broadway show. He's not going to want to leave his wife and baby daughter behind in New York.

Is that what the man's been up to since leaving Supergirl? Good for him, really, because that sounds great.

It was nice to see Winn again. And I really enjoy his Toyman Winn. So, even if he isn't a regular, I would love to see both come back every now and again. Really enjoyed this episode, and it is nice to see Brainy isn't fully Vulcan now. Though, the end of his scene with Winn has me making questions of how much it was an act.

And they are getting real cute with the music bits during fights.

As for Kara and William, I am just here for the Tumblr tears...
