Actually, I don't mind how they use slo-mo in Smallville and that's saying something.
It's an overused device in genre films and it's a pet peeve of mine when they over do it.
You get bored silly at the ending of LOTR: Return of the King?
Yeah, me too.
Not only did they have five endings (which was exactly the way it happened in the book, btw) but they had all those slo-mo shots.
*yawn*
It is overused, but I don't think Smallville does.
right on, you get me: it's not a bad effect, they just use it too much. For me, it ruined the Zod fight, which was good, but the slomo really messed with the flow of the whole battle.
it was better used against bizarro, especially the charge. But then they go and do things like Clark getting thrown out of the damn, which just looked terrible.
I just feel that sometime they try to stretch the effect farther than it can be, ruining its implementation.
Infact: it's the one negative comment I have about the teaser. Don't Supergirl's legs look all out of position as she flies up off screen. I mean it doesn't look natural at all. It looks like the director just yelled at her,'bend your leg' without really caring on how her leg is bend. And even funnier, they put her in cow boy boots so she couldn't point her feet in the natural direction (assuming someone is flying). I mean this is a preview, spend five more minutes, take another shot, and get the shot right. It's not that hard. And they're getting paid to make it look good, so why not make it look good. If I were director: "Hey blondie, lose the boots, I don't care what wardrobe says, they are sabotaging my shot" as well as smaking my DOP, and telling him to make it look like she is flying, not jumping on one leg
sorry, I'm sure the supergirl thing will turn out well, but the devil is in the details.
