Well, looks like a lot of people will be self isolating now or in the very near future. Are you doing it now? Are you worried about it happening?

We start self isolation tomorrow. Never worked from home before but I’m an introvert so I think it will work out for me

I'm retired and spend a good deal of time alone anyways. For the next few weeks I'll have my teenager at home and I need to make sure they do their assigned homework and make sure they don't get too bored and restless. I'll be watching a lot of movies and RV series.

If I get sick I will, but as of now I’m still working in a grocery that is probably one of the only things that won’t close in all this. Guess we’ll see what happens...unfortunately.

My employer just closed us for two weeks which makes staying home very easy. We're good on food, medicine and toilet paper for a while. I'm just catching up on reading and my shows.

I do production work in a factory so I won't have the option of working from home, I'll just be laid off. If that happens, I don't see myself staying indoors all day. I'll go the parks where I can be outside without risking having to touch what other people have touched and getting too close to others.

If I get sick, that's a different story of course.

Even before the Corona Virus, I often was in involuntary isolation. So it's not something that I would have too much trouble coping with. Some people I know are wondering how they're going to keep themselves occupied in this time and don't know what to do with themselves. I have lots of different things I could potentially do to keep myself occupied and busy.

Also, Bill Murray had to find things to do to pass the time when stuck in Groundhog Day. He became a master of the piano and other languages. This time is an opportunity to learn things instead of just watching TV all day long.

I'm also in a position where I might get laid off. I have plenty of games and books to catch up on. Currently reading House of Leaves.

We have two shifts at work now: three days/two days, so that there's only one person per office. Home office is not a viable option for us.

They also changed our schedule so that we can avoid the rush hour.

No isolation so far over here! But I already have a trustworthy site to read many crappy novels :D just in case

I'm still working. I do animal husbandry in a research lab and I am essential staff. Can't take care of 20,000 mice, 15 sheep, 10 pigs, and a crapload of zebrafish from home. I will be going straight to my apartment after my shift and hunkering down.

Which is essentially my standard life. I got movies, I got books, I got guitars. I'm fine.

Interesting note:

I've received three, count 'em, three invitations from ladies to go out tonight. That ain't standard, but I ain't going. I'm not sure what that's about, maybe some weird response to a large threat is giving people the evolutionary urge to reproduce.

I’m hoping you’ll both be ok and I’ll be crossing my fingers that you keep your jobs.

Even introverts feels bored and annoyed after a while of isolation. You can trust me on that, it's based on personal experience.

yeah I get that but everyone’s different and I’m lucky work have developed a few tools for everyone to keep in touch with each other.

I've started working from home so I'm pretty much isolating now.

They must've been listening to Alanis Morrisette and decided to ask you on a date when you have to self isolate. Who would've thought? It figures!

Been working from home these past few days and have gotten next to nothing accomplished.

But I did finish Contagion yesterday so I guess that's something.

I want to stay home but unfortunately my work isn't closing down yet so I still have to go in. If I don't then a co-worker who is in their 70's and diabetic has to cover for me and that means a much increased likelyhood of them getting sick. Going to work I can at least mitigate some of that danger. They have the mentality of someone who thinks they never get sick and never will get sick so this is not going to affect them. Dangerous combination of obstinance and ignorance to go with their age and medical condition.
