Sell me on the Half life 2 bundle...

Part of me wants it. Portal looks cool, and Episode two looks awesome, very war of the worlds esque.

However, and here's the but part...I thought Half Life was pretty crappy as it goes. And I decided to give HL2 a chance on xx box, but was so bored by it I only got up to the opening helicopter battle on that little motorised thing in the dumps. I found it incredibly dull and depressing...the envirioments were dingy and not in a good way. It's like they thrw out every gaming cliche within th first half hour or so (sewers, alien beings taking over, helicopter fights, facist henchmen...)

so sell me on it, because I really want to like it...but I dont know if I can. If I do, this will be half life's third and final strike...

I wouldn't have bought HL2 on XB. It was built for 360, I'd give this one a shot. If I am correct, they are also including Team Fortress 2 with it.

It was insanly hyped and when it came out opn ps2 it was so ''meh'' it wasn't even funny (my pc is too ****ty to play many games). It was just so bland, and the crabheads looked insanely silly.

Ans HL2's faults weren't technical as so much as it was the cliched envrioments and enemies. If I have to go through one more sewer, Im gonna kill someone.

Smart sci-fi, great action and gunfights, puzzles, AI that's actually smart.
Seriously, if you're not conviced by now, you really shouldn't buy the game.
Not everything that's over-hyped is bad, you know. Don't go against the waves just because.

I did like the opressed feel of the city at the beginning...and I heard there was an excellent based horror level later on (but i had traded it by the time I heard about it)....so I think I'll give it a shot. If anything, Half Life Ep 2 looks worth it alone.

I would love at the end if you opened up a portal and went through...and you see cthulu and the other old ones! They have waited for a foolish mortal to open a portal to them from earth...bwahahahah!

did you finish call of cthulu by the way? I love that game, one of my all time favourites.

I'm still working on Call of Cthulhu. I can't get out of the hotel when they want to kill you.

As for Half-Life 2, it will be a rental when I get a 360.

Half-Life 2 isn't that good of a game in my opinion. There's way too much driving at once, there's too much scripting, there's too much waiting on people to finish talking, the puzzles aren't worth a damn and the actual adventure parts are just a series of set pieces, which, while great, aren't worth the trouble it is to get to them.

I'm still working on Call of Cthulhu. I can't get out of the hotel when they want to kill you.

As for Half-Life 2, it will be a rental when I get a 360.

That bit was a sonofa*****. If I were you I'd put it on the easiest setting first till you know the route (gamefaqs.com has it). II think you have to run out , down stairs, then till you come to the end and go in a room, move a table and go out the balcony. It's one of the most intense and heart pounding experiences I have ever had.

Im sure it will eventually make its way to PS3... Still Xbox have it for now

Source is an alright engine, but compared to Unreal 3.0 and Gamebryo, it's basically nothing.

I think pretty much every next-gen proprietary engine is better.

Except for MGS4's engine. That actually looks really Source-ish, right down to the wierdness of the textures.

I'm actually not looking forward to it that much. I love the visual style they used, but I there's too many imo better multiplayer games coming for 360 before or around that time for me to care about it. I'm getting the pack solely for Portal.

As am I. But as such, I'm not paying $60 for portal. I'll wait two years for a price drop.
