Sell me on the new Captain America

how are trades compared to comics
Well, trades are cheaper, and you don't have to really worry about keeping them in perfect shape, they're more durable, you don't have to wait for months to get a bigger dose of the work, and they're easier to lend out to friends, or take around with you. It also makes it easier to read older titles, many of which it would be very time consuming and expensive to track down all the back issues for. They're for people who want to READ comics, but don't care about collecting them

is it better to have all the comics rather than the trades?
That's completely subjective.

plus i think if u just spend 2.99 on it u find out yourself. no ones a better judge of things than yourself..because if we all said we loved it and then he went out and bought it and hated it..what was the whole point.
The point was that while everyone has an opinion, and no one's opinion on a subjective peice of art or entertainment is ever truly "right", there is such a thing as a majority opinion. If a majority of people like something, there's a pretty good chance you'll like it too. If a majority of people hated something, then it stands to reason you probably won't care for it either. No, majority opinions shouldn't GIVE you your opinion, but they can give you a pretty good indicator of what your opinion is likely to be and whether it's worth the time or money to find out. And after all, who exactly has the time and money to buy every comic, read every book, watch every movie, or whatever, just to form their own opinions?

I might see a movie trailer, and have no interest in the movie. But then I might read some glowing reviews and decide to give to give the movie a chance anyway, only to found out I really did enjoy it after all.

Or I might be on a strict budget, and count on others' input before I make a final decision.

Or, from the recommendER's POV - let's say there's a series you really really love, but no one's buying it. It might even be on the verge of cancelation. In that scenario, you get up on the rooftops and you shout how good this series is, get people to notice it when they didn't before, get them to give it a chance when they wouldn't have before. If you love a book that much to do something like that, it stands to reason it's a pretty good book to mean so much to you, and other people will discover the series and what you found in it, and spread the word as well. We saved Runaways by doing this.

Can I get an amen?

Or borrow a bootleg from a family member who got it from Hustle Man who sells stuff out of his van in the parking lot at the in and out burger.

Shhhhh! Dont be spreading the word like that.

Like everyone doesn't know. Next you'll be saying i'm the only one here with ghonorea of the throat

Over here one issue of a standard size comic can cost as much as a third of a trade. The comic may turn out to be rubbish, ending up in the 20p bucket years later and being worth 0p and zero effort on e-bay. trades, on the other hand, are collected issues of what was probably a popular run. theyre cheaper and are easily kept in good condition and so their sell-on value is quite good. as has been said, it's only opinion, but as a poor ol' student i'm more and more coming round to the idea of collecting trades rather than comics.

IMO CA is Marvel's best book. For anyone not reading it, I recommend you to do so. Great, great book.
