Ok, so my mum and her boyfriend are pretty much terrified of anything new being added to the computer, you should have heard the 2 week long explanation of iTunes.
Anyways, I've had enough.
I want my Wii and DS online. Now.

I've been trying to talk to them about wireless internet, it wont benafit them at all, just me and my wii, which is why I've said I'll buy the router.
Now, I need some things confirming for them;

1) If I connect a router, and the wifi signal isn't very strong at the time, would that make the connection on the internet any slower than normal? or, because they are both connected through wires, will it be fine.

2) Tell them I'm right, 15,000 Virus arnt going to ambush our computer, just because we've gone wireless.

3) There is no price difference.

Thanks.

All a router does is take your existing internet connection (cable modem or so) and transmits it wirelessly over a certain space. It is still the same internet. So...

1) While your Wii may have a slower connection because of a low signal, it shouldn't effect the normal computer hooked to the internet. Or it hasn't happened at my house.

2) Since you are using the same internet, you are not going to have a random ambush of viruses.

3) Nope. You have already paid for the internet. The router just broadcasts the signal over your house to all computers instead of one.

Hope I stated everything correct and I hope this helps.

Just remember to set your router so that it has a password on it, to not let freeloaders use your internet service.

Thank you.
I'm getting my router next week when I get paid.
any suggestions?

Dont get a router, get the wifi hotspot thing if you're only using it for your DS and Wii...it costs alot less, and is really simple plug and play (just plug it into your computers USB port)

have you considered the nintendo usb? the router wouldent work for me and its much simpler to set up.

im on the wii rite now thanks to it!

I know :(

Anyway, I've tried the nintendo USB thing, the signal wouldn't have reached my wii (in my room)
And the ds wouldn't connect to it. I've also heard a ton of problems form it.

really? that sucks

trust me iknow how much of a pain it is to get online

i was very doubtfull too since the wii and the comp are on different floors but it worked!

Perhaps you can just try setting up different connections?
I had the problem too, but persevered and finally have it online.
