Took a look at the preview issue in the store yestarday.

Looks pretty cool, it's from Felicias perspective.
Plus it will be the last issue before Angel Medina returns as the best artist on the book since the Dodsons.

Why's Spidey not in black?

now i wonder if we'll see the reason spidey goes back in black or if the event will happen in a civil war book that will be delayed a month or so late :(

I think it will turn out to be because he was listening to AC/DC one morning...
I can't think of any other reason to use the Back in Black tag.

Felicia bound up in webbing, Spidey only focusing on one part in particular...this has Cameron's "Spider-Man" written all over it.

I'm looking forward to this, so far Sacasa's been sensational with his Spider-Man title (pun intended). He really has a good grip with continuity, and does a good job of making me understand and care for the characters. This book is definately one of the best Spidey books out there right now, IMO.

You know, I never got round to reading that script.
So I can assume Peter and Felicia were together in it?

The trouble is, the weakest story from Aguirre-Sacasa so far was the last Black Cat story, "Feral". He's stated that Black Cat is his favorite character, but I would hope that in the future he'll be a little more careful with continuity when it comes to Felicia's powers and activities.

Actually, Cameron thought it would be a great idea for Spidey and Mary-Jane to be in the sequence of fornication. Reason #1 why I'm glad his script treatment never saw the light of day.

Anyways, I haven't read a Black Cat story since Smith's belated run using the character. If it gets some good reviews I might have my lackey make the epic trip to my local comic store to get an issue.

… Feral the weakest thus far? Hmmmm,
It had a really cool Torment style vibe, plus it Puma and Stegron.
The ending was a little bit of a let down, but the first half of the arc was a spooky mystery story w/ dynamic and extreme angles in the art department.
Black Cat beating up Lizard was unrealistic, but it did not spoil the arc for me.
So long as he gets Felicia’s power level right from now on I'm all for him using her more.

Even as his weakest story, I thought it was pretty good, other than a bad ending. And yeah, no way in hell should Felicia beat on the Lizard IMO. That's the only bad thing, I think his favoritism towards the Black Cat might be why he shows her as more powerful.

It had STEGRON, which automatically makes it the best Spidey story since Blue.

Seems I'm going to have to check out if this is true...

Funny you should mention McFarlane's "Torment" -- I actually think that "Feral" was better written than "Torment", but I've never made a secret of my disdain for McFarlane's writing style.

"Feral" did indeed have a good set-up, and while I was admittedly pissed off by the ridiculous smackdowns Black Cat laid on Lizard, the story flowed well and I also liked the reappearance of Puma and Stegron.

The ending was just so weak and that's what killed it for me overall. Several loose ends weren't wrapped up (eg: is Billy Connors now in permanent danger of becoming Lizard Junior again?). I was also annoyed by the inconsistant quality of Medina's art in that arc (he's gotten better now so I think he might have been rushed for "Feral") as well as the random use of Clayton Crain's art right in the middle of the story. It all just added up to a let-down for me.

He was actually pretty spot on with her continuity. For the past twenty years or so, Felicia has walked away victorius from fights with Sabertooth, Hydro-Man, and Scorpion.

We may not agree with it...it may not be "logical"...but by comparison of her past continuity, Lizard shouldnt have been any more of a problem for her, in that regard, then the other villains mentioned.

So no, i'd say Sacasa was once again on the money.

Aloha,
I'm trying to remember what issue did Black Cat get POWERED UP.
