Sequel?

wasnt the last shot of 300 the beginning of the battle of salamis?

I think the end of 300 was good enough to show that the 300 were ultimately sucessful. no sequal needed.

They could have a time traveler travel back in time and stop the hunchback from betraying the Spartans. Then they could show how the battle ended differently, with more waves of Persians getting whacked, and possibly Leonidas hitting Xerxes right through the throat with that spear, instead of just ripping off some of his jewelry.

A alternate never intended ending of Leonidas spearing Xerxes right in the neck, and Leonidas being plowed down by arrows for the DVD would be perfect.

No, the Battle of Salamis is a sea battle, I believe. The ending of 300 showed the Battle of Plataea, where the Greeks were outnumbered 3 to 1 or possibly 6 to 1.

This isn't a franchise. It's a stand-alone film. Some things are better left alone. Why do people feel anything remotely good must have a sequel these days?

I'd prefer they adapt other work of Miller's.
I never said it was beginning a franchise.
I said it would conclude what Leonidas had started, so this new film would be the true end.

PLEASE NO Frank Miller sequel!! I don't need any more Miller Fantasy versions of my ancestors once was enuff!

THERE IS NO SEQUEL TO THIS!!!!! There is no sequel to the original graphic novel and unless Frank Miller does it on his OWN time not for a second movie I dont want to. Miller added the beginning of the Battle of Platea to the Graphic Novel for a sense of closure instead of seeing the Spartans die and Xerxes run off and laugh. Frank didn't elaborate on the Battle of Platea so you could leave it to your imagination. There is no need for a sequel. As much as I would love to see the Spartans fight again it wouldnt be the same because the loss of emotional power due to the fact that the Spartans are narrowly outnumbered in the Battle of Platea compared to the 300 against a Million. And im not talking history im talking comic book so dont think about posting garbage on the actual numbers like they do on youtube. The reason why you liked 300 is because it gave the Spartans a real depth. If you make a sequel it will be like in Lord of the Rings if a guy defending Minas Tirith died you didnt care because someone else would go and replace him which would be the same thing if a sequel to 300 was made to the fact that there are 10,000 Spartans with other allies in the Battle of Platea, but in 300 each Spartan dying was a serious blow. There is no need for a sequel. Unless Frank Miller, the man who gave birth to this idea decides to make a graphic novel for a 300 sequel then I say no. On a little topic if Xerxes would have goten that spear through his throat on a Alternate ending that would be awesome.

^I'm saying Miller is involved. I need a mod to change the thread title, cause apparently people aren't reading the first post:whatever:

Yea the Greeks were outnumbered 3 to 1 and that was a huge battle that the greeks won.....Now that would make an awesome movie...show the entire Battle of Plataea....That speach at the end that Delios made gave me goosebumps and made me want to grab a sword and fight along side them

No I understand its just that even if miller is involved he still might not enjoy making it like Robocop. Or look at the Dark Knight Strikes Again. Not nearly as good as the first Dark Knight. I'm just afraid another story set in the 300 universe wont be as good as the first 300.

Ok, now I get what you're saying.
I thought the Dark Knight Strikes Again was just as good The Dark Knight Returns IMO.
It could turn out to be like All-Star Batman.:csad::csad:
300 was very chancy, I guess a conclusion story would be even more chancier.

Well DKSA was ok in terms of story but the art was off compared to DKR's art which was beautiful. Another Spartan story might work but I doubt it. And it wouldnt be called 300 2 or something. It would probably be called 10,000 or Spartans or maybe something weird like The Red Cloak.

I was saying it should be about the Athenians at Salamis and the "traitor" who tricks Xerxes to attack at Salamis.
The Spartans would be involved on the mainland battle, but I was thinking of a huge sea battle.

ahh. Sea battle huh??? I dont know if I would like to see a sea battle. I liked seeing the Spartans fighting on the ground. Go see Pirates 3 for sea battles. 300 and possible sequel should be centered on the geography of land and just a few glimpeses of sea and thats it. I guess its just a matter of opinion.

The sea battles aren't the same.
They were about ramming ships together or pulling up next to the ship.
Then battles like the ones in 300 would commence, most of the battle was fought by hoplites(what the Spartans were).

Another suggestion is the breaking of the Delian League and the Peloponessian war. It would be about the young son of Leonidas, Pleistonax and the Spartan commander Nicomedes fighting Athens.

I know there is no sequel to the graphic novel, and that there probably will never be a sequel (There isn't really a need for one). But that doesn't mean there isn't historical material that can be used to make a conclusion to the Second Persian War.
The Battle of Salamis could be used to end what Leonidas "began".
If you don't know what it is, go here> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Salamis

The film would deal with the Athenian Navy, and the Greek "Traitor", who tricks Xerxes into attacking at the Bay of Salamis, and dooming his conquest of the world.
It's said to be the most significant battle in human history.

The only way this would happen is if Frank Miller were to write a new graphic novel or script, and if Snyder were to return as director.
I'm not too fond of the idea of a "sequel" just for the fact that Salamis has never been looked at like Thermopylae was. It was a very significant battle, but the Hot Gates (while alos significant) is generally used more as a tale of courage, the ultimate underdog story. That's why 300 works well, because you don't neeed to know much history about anything, just that the Spartans are the good guys, the persians are bad, and they fight.

If you went into Salamis, you woudld have to go much more into the history of the time to accurately portray the battle, and doing that would pretty much gaurantee that it wouldn't be like 300 at all. I would love to see a movie that accurately (or at least more closely) depicts the Hot Gates and Salamis, just not in a sequel to 300.

Why would you make a sequel to a movie where almost all the characters are dead? Do you honestly think Frank Miller would license that ****?
Answer: No way in hell (which is, interstingly enough, where all his characters are currently dining).

Oh, I see. But that wasn't specifically at you. Just anyone who has that notion.

I'm going to harness a guess that you're only talking about his 300 characters :oldrazz:

Btw, was the book as good as the movie? I haven't read it and highly doubt it is but you never know?

I also heard that a sequel is in the works right now. I think the WB is also trying to get Miller to do another comic, like he is doing for Sin City 2. THey know without Miller and Synder, they will not have a sequel.
