Producer-writer Dean Devlin confirmed today at the San Diego Comic-Con that he is in talks with MGM Studios to shoot parts two and three to his original 1994 sci-fi film Stargate, which starred Kurt Russell and James Spader.

Devlin, speaking to the Comic-Con crowd about his next production, the World War I pilot drama Flyboys, said he has signed a multi-picture deal with MGM and wants the completion of his originally envisioned "Stargate" trilogy to be considered for those slots.

"I'd want the films to stay on track for what the original three were planned to be," said Devlin. "I'd want to let the series stand on their own."

Stargate, a project that no one believed in – according to Devlin, has become an international sensation following successful SCI FI Channel series "SG-1" and "Atlantis." Devlin told attendees that watching what the "Stargate" phenomenon had become has been a great experience – likening it to a dream that had 'come to life, left his head, walked across the street, got married and had children.'

"You can't help but be proud of that," he said

I guess this means no SG1 Movie ? :(

hmmm....I don't know if this is a good idea. They took too long. Most people don't even remember Stargate was a movie at first. LOL

Which is sad because SG1 started as a Sequel to that Movie lol but then became its own

I think it'd be ******ed to treat the series as if it didn't exist because that's perhaps the hottest thing out now. Anyway is the TV Series any good, I hear mixed things?

SG1 has been on for 10 years & Atlantis for 3 & with a possible Third Series in the works.

What do you think

& yes I think it is crap to act like the shows do not exist esepcially since as I said SG1 started as a Sequel to that Movie

It doesn't need a sequel.
It already has the series(which is a far superior sequel)
Atlantis on the other hand is :down :down

i loved the old movie, but i've never seen the show.

Watch the Show. I makes the film look like crap. Even Atlantis is better.

I love the show too. Atlantis is cool as well. Show is one of the longest running sci-fi shows ever...next to Dr. Who I think. lol

Laughable statement.

An opinion presented in that fashion is a statement.

Let me explain my problem with Atlantis.
My problem is the cast. Except for McKay, all the other actors just seem bored. The premise is fine, it's damn good one if you ask me. It's only the cast that brings it down. They don't bring any ugency to the situations they are in.

Either way, honestly, I love the movie, not a fan of the shows, but a sequel shouldnt be done.

RDA wont be in it so I wont be watching it.

SG-1 was far better than the first film anyway... Until RDA left and they started that Atlantis crap up.

I love the movie. Never watched the TV shows. Can't imagine Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks filling the shoes of Kurt Russell and James Spader respectively.

I hope Russell and Spader returns for this one.

The series is way better than the movie and I like the movie.

If MGM want's a movie make a SG-1 movie. Don't let some who hates SG-1 cash in on the success

On second thought, a new film would be good. Get Russell back and stick with the original concept...
