I’ve been thinking about it. For a while everyone wanted to try them but except for marvel they really haven’t worked.

Any ideas on what might work though? I was thinking maybe the golden age of scholastic. Goosebumps, animorphs, magic school bus all meet up.

Or the biker mice from mars, teenage mutant ninja turtles and street sharks meet up in a movie that uses about a billion letters lol

I'd love to see a gi joe/transformers crossover. I feel like that would work.

And then I thought the Universal monsters shared universe had potential, but that didn't go so well.

Capcomverse - Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Strider to name a few.

The Universal Monsters have potential. Not as a billion-dollar franchise perhaps, but something more akin to what WB is doing with the Conjuring franchise: R-rated horror films with overlapping characters connecting them all together. Van Helsing could easily serve a similar role to the Warrens.

I am certain that there will be more shared universes.
The question is, do we really need them?

That's the Universal monsters universe that I want to see. Not another action franchise, but horror.

Seriously. The Universal Monsters Universe = Penny Dreadful with Van Helsing.

Does the Monsterverse count? The original intended run ends up being only 4 movies total, but so far the two that's been released have been pretty successful.

As far potential ones, I would love to see a Kingdom Hearts type thing, since Disney is pretty much doing all the live action princess movie solos now, with Mulan and Aladdin coming up. Would be awesome seeing Lily James, Emma Watson, Liu Yifei, Naomi Scott in the same film "hmr:, but that idea seems way too left field atm lol.

Another route you could go with that concept is the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That way you could incorporate other characters like Sherlock Holmes and Allan Quatermain and then have spinoff solo films if it all resonates with people. Unfortunately, they already tried it and RUINED it with an abysmal film.

I have some hope for the Legendary Kaiju films. Godzilla sucked, but I thought Kong: Skull Island was alright (not great, but enjoyable) and I'd certainly be interested in seeing what they do with Ghidorah.

I figured TMNT, Ghostbusters X files and MIB could all over lap. I heard there was a comic version where this happened somewhere.

Picture it, Fox and Mulder hearing about an urban legend of humanoid reptiles in the sewers - they get down there and not only do they find a dwelling, but they also interrupt Venkman & co as they pick up on dimension X readings.

A good Robocop Vs Terminator movie would be awesome - how i'd do it - So Skynet spawned from the era that Robocop was created and visualized by OCP - it was a time of AI and internet etc and cyborgs.
Obviously Murphy was the one off and only RoboCop.

So the future happens and this rugged, battle hardened RoboCop storms the facility and takes it all down, it's a great moment and we see him loaded and destroying everything, logging into the system, screwing with it, the human element is there. He self destructs and as the timer ticks down, a T800 is sent back in time to stop OCP ever making a Robocop.

Rewind to the 80's - detroit - Murphy is in Pursuit then, that classic naked bubble of muscle appears and we have a good hour of detroit shoot up and hide and seek. There is a moment where Murphy connects to the T800 as they fight and instantly downloads and see's the future and his mission.
Using this info Murphy defeats the t800 then goes into hiding, waiting for the future to arrive and then do what needs to be done.

I've still got the four issue RoboCop Versus The Terminator crossover comic written by Frank Miller, published by Dark Horse in 1992. It's pretty darned awesome.

Pulpverse. Set in the 1920s with a bunch of pulp heroes.

We already have shared universes in other media, with lore and characters firmly established. They could easily be adapted for film, just need to stay respectful of the source material and make sure the films are not rushed.

For me i'd love to see some of the stories from the 40k universe hit the big screen as well as some forgotten realms/d&d and vampire the masquerade.

Adapting david gemmils drenai or sipstrassi books would be great as would abercrombies stories.

The Godzilla/Kong MonsterVerse is off to a good start with two well-received stand-alone movies, let’s hope they stay on course. I'm just not sure where they can go after Godzilla vs. Kong?

I would argue Star Wars is also its own cinematic universe.

I hope studios do not repeat the same mistakes Universal did…..

The Universal Monsters were already a shared universe once. And then Penny Dreadful did it very well.

It can be done again as $50 million or less horror movies, preferably period, but they don't have to be. They just have to embraced the Gothicness and not try to be Marvel.

Isn't any franchise? Or am I missing something?

Actually, yes Star Wars in theory is well on its way. What are the "standalone" movies but, excluding Rogue One, backdoor attempts to create spinoff franchises from the main storyline? Yeah, who knows if it'll work as I'm ambivalent about Solo, but that's the plan at Lucasfilm.

Fox ironically is having better success with its off-shoots from the X-Men (Deadpool, Logan, the prospect of an X-Force movie) than they are with the actual X-Men, funnily enough.

As previously mentioned, the MonsterVerse is succeeding as something people are going to, even if no one seems to really love the movies that are being made.

Monster-verse (Godzilla vs Kong) etc
As far as I am aware, this is already in the works, with Godzilla & Kong already having been released, and a Godzilla 2, in addition to Kong vs Godzilla in the works.

Dark Universe (Dracula, Frankenstein, Swamp Thing) etc
Should have started with Dracula Untold, but Universal instead attempted to reboot with The 2017 Mummy film (which was rather pathetic). There's still potential with it though.

G.I. Joe & Transformers
Would require a reboot on both front, and they'd need to keep Michael Bay the hell away from it, but it could certainly work very well.

Alien vs Predator
It's been done twice before, neither of which were that successful. If done right, I believe this would be worth another investment.

Blade & Twilight
Just to see all the Vampires get slaughtered..... :woot:

I actually like the first one. The second one I admit is pure garbage! :funny:

I would pay very good money to watch that! :woot:

Sherlock Holmes (RDJ) and Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard)

Admittedly the first one was better than the sequel, but even the initial film could have been a lot better.

Should have followed the game theme; Predators, Aliens & Marines/Scientist on a remote planet or something.
