This is a thread to talk about the awesomeness of the Shazam/Marvel family; a place to talk about his comics and to post some art (professional or fan made)!

I met C.C. Beck at a comic convention in Orlando back in 1974. Wasn't able to get a pic, but did get a Captain Marvel comic signed by him. He seemed like a nice guy....he was friendly and signing anything handed to him for nothing. The SHAZAM Tv show was on back then. I asked him what he thought of the show....I don't remember him actually saying anything, but his look said he wasn't pleased with it.

I first learned that there was a Captain Marvel in the mid 60's. I loved watching old movies. One day I started watching THE GOOD HUMOR MAN (1950) starring comedian Jack Carson. The basic story is....Good Humor ice cream salesman gets involved in a murder mystery and through the help of a bunch of kids he knows the day is saved. The thing was, the kids belonged to the Captain Marvel fan club. They were reading the comics and talking about him. Later I mentioned to my dad that I had seen the movie and the kids talking about CM....and he told me that there had really been comics of him back in the 40's and 50's. In the movie, the kids would let others know they needed help by shouting NIAPAC LEVRAM....and the ice cream man knew this and shouted it to them when he was being held by the bad guys so that they could come and save the day.

Great story, C. Lee! I wish I were around at that time, during the character's golden age (though I believe he'll have some golden years in the following years again!).
First read about him in the late 80s/early 90s, in back up story from a Superman comic (here in Brazil). I remember he fought Captain Nazi there.

I've never been a fan of Alex Ross, but gotta admit he nails the old Captain Marvel... He's a big fan of the character, after all.

Shazam became my favorite hero after reading Kingdom Come. The Captain Marvel serial is great fun. I recommend watching it.

It's too bad none of the writers really seem to know what to do with his Wisdom of Solomon power. He should be a strong tactician, leader or strategist, but instead they--at least Ordway did---made it seem like an encyclopedia.

Whoa... cool!
