Wan is the favorite of many, he has the connection to The Rock. but who would you think will be apt for the role of the director of the migthy Shazam?

James Wan would be freakin amazing. he's one of my favorites

He may be the one directing Shazam.

Steve pointed out that Warner Bros. is a studio that likes to take care of its filmmakers, and since Wan hit it off so well with The Conjuring, Steve addressed the possibility that WB may want to keep Wan in the fold to take the helm of one of their DC Comics Universe films:
“Yeah it’s weird. Continuing that family tradition, [Warner Bros. is] like that and it’s almost like they’re very old school in that respect, which you don’t see much of anymore.”
More directly, Steve asked Wan if there’s a specific DC property that he would be interested in adapting:
“Yeah, there are some that I like… I am open to all possibilities at this point.”

Just because he is almost surely going to be directing a DC movie it does not mean Shazam, not even a little. Could be Shazam, could be Cyborg, could be something they haven't announced yet.

Stephen Sommers will be perfect for the tone of Shazam.

True. But his relationship with The Rock and New Line Cinema would led us to think that Shazam may be the frontrunner in our predictions.

Just because Shazam is the only DC movie on New Line's IMDB page it doesn't mean Shazam is going to be the only one produced by New Line. The official press release indicates New Line will co produce multiple.

I was going to suggest David Yates, but he might be busy with the second edition to "Fantastic Beasts" at that time.

Whoa. I was one of the guys that said ALL movies are produced by NLC and WB and connected in the same universe. I've said RELATIONSHIP of NLC and The Rock with Wan, may be a better bet than the other movies. But any other movie without director can be possible too.

Yeah, John-An is just offering his pick to helm Shazam and giving a justification for it. That's all.

Brad Bird is hands down the best person for this particular film. I hope WB can get him.

Brad Bird seems to be the best person for every particular DC hero film. How come?

Now that he is available I guess we could bring up Joss Whedon. I would suggest that he be given the opportunity to direct, because of his work with films like "Toy Story" and Marvel's "Avengers" (that's if Marvel doesn't ask him to helm their "Captain Marvel" pic). "Shazam" should be a story about a boy in a man's body as much as a super-hero film and outside of maybe Penny Marshall, I think Whedon could do that type of film (writing both the screenplay and helming).

If Joss Whedon can do some DC movie. This ones is the best suited for him.

My first choice is Yates but as someone pointed out, that guy would be busy.

My second choice at this point is Brad Peyton of who has the obvious connections with both The Rock and New Line Cinema through the recent hit San Andreas and previously with Journey 2. His slightly cartoonish set-pieces would actually lend into the SHAZAM mythology well, IMO. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like it.

Stephen Sommers isn't the best director out there, but he could find the right line between adventure and humour.

I say Joe Dante or 'Paddington' director Paul King.

Del Toro could bring the magic!

I agree with Brad Bird, he would capture the whimsical feel of it (and he's great with family super teams like in the Incredibles, and a Superman like character in Iron Giant) and he can do action movies well with his Mission Impossible movie.

I think Sam Raimi would be great too, I rewatch Spiderman the other day and I feel like he has the right tone to go for in a Shazam film.

Shawn Levy would be great if anyone has seen Real Steel thats the tone i want for shazam it was light hearted, dramatic, whimsical, funny, action packed and brought me back to the amblin days.

great soudntrack too
